Replaced the Morimoto headlights with new ones they sent me, ugh, still flashing every 30 to 40 minutes. My security camera caught it. Keep in mind, its flashing every 5 seconds, its a gif file and repeats.

I am waiting on a follow up with 4Runner Lifestyle because I had burned out LEDs on the turn signals. They are the Gen 2s and only 9 months old.

Ugh... That's frustrating! However, being that the exact same thing is happening now with the replacement set, it really does seem like it has to do with where or how the lights are connected. The startup sequence is being triggered. Try a different fuse tap location.

Same thing I thought but the tap wire is for the DRL's it would makes sense if it was DRL's flashing, but the low beams. Someone above suggested to run it inside and tap it to a auxiliary fuse. Guess it won't hurt to try.

You could unplug it altogether and see if it still does it. Then you will know for sure if it is the culprit.

For all of you that suggested to swap the power to DRL's to another fuse, I apologize. I refused to believe that would effect the headlights and make them flash. In my defense, It was Morimoto's tech support that told me it should plugged into EFI #2.

Switching the power from EFI # 2 to MIR HTR 10 did the trick.

Still waiting, it has been two weeks. I was told on Wednesday this week, that Morimoto should be getting back with them this week. However, they (4Runner Lifestyle), has been radio silent. I really like these headlights, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have kept the money. I understand things go wrong, but customer service should be paramount. I am not sure if it is 4RL or Morimoto, but two weeks with zero updates is a bit too much. I am going to remove these ones this weekend and reinstall my OEM ones. I swapped them out the day after I drove it home from the dealer, so they made it 9 months with no issues. According to Morimoto and 4Runner Lifestyle's websites, they have a 5 year warranty. Only time will tell at this point...

My guess it's 4RL, I bought my set directly from Morimoto, (that might make a difference though) after I explained the above problem, they sent me a new set of lights and a return UPS return code, got the new lights in 4 or 5 days. Contact Morimoto directly. They will probably ask for proof of purchase. Man I'm hoping they last, I was going to sell the OEM headlights, I better hold on to them.

You are probably not wrong. I may reach out to Morimoto myself.

Well, I reached out to Mori on Monday, today they replied, asked for proof of payment and an explanation of my issues. I sent them screenshots of the receipt and a video I sent 4runnerlifestyle almost three weeks ago. Morimoto replied within two hours asking for my shipping info and said the would ship me replacements. That is A+ service in my book! Well, from Morimoto that is. I wonder if 4RLS was given the run around or they are just trash….

That's awesome!! I gotta admit Morimoto customer service was the same with me, definitely AA+ I've bought a couple of things from 4RL but nothing that uses 12 volts. Key fob, radio and climate control knobs, can't go wrong there. But leaving a customer hanging for 3 weeks is garbage. Hopefully your new lights last a long time.

I bought my Gen 2 Morimoto XB heads directly from Morimoto as well and can’t say enough good things about their customer support. Also, their tech support worked with me on the phone to complete the install.

I screwed up and realized I had purchased the white DRL when I meant to get the amber. I told Morimoto about this and that I had already installed them. No problem. Sent me a return label and will replace with the amber after I pay the $200 difference. Great company in my book.

Both headlights came in, installed, and shipped the old ones back yesterday. I cannot speak to how easy it was dealing with Morimoto directly. Hell, 4Runner Lifestyle has not even replied to my email from about 2 weeks ago. I can no longer support them. Pretty sad too, they started off really well.

Awesome! I'll have to agree with you on Morimoto customer service! Same thing here, I didn't want to spend another $1000 on lights for my tundra, but I think I will because of their customer service. Well they are nice lights too, longevity- time will tell.

As far as 4runner lifestyle, I think they're just a handful of guys who drive 4runner, buys 4runner parts and adds on to market prices, resellers. Normally find their products cheaper from the main source. Don't care much for the customers.

    Happy morimoto customer! 20221021_120809.jpg

    Thanks for the feedback.
I was a bit hesitant getting their headlights as I read about some people having issues, but so far it seems like they've always been good in respect to customer service, even if not bought directly from them.

They're having a 20% black Friday sale so i just got a set. Initially I thought about selling my OEM but I'll be keeping them in storage just in case something happens after the 5 year warranty.

So I installed them and they look really good.
    I've got an issue though.

I tapped in the EFI 2 fuse like the instructions say.
When switching to DRL OFF on the stalk, they stay on.
Also, just like OP, my lights flashed on their own for a few seconds whenever the truck cycles the injector circuit.

I tried tapping into the 10A MIR HTR, INJ, and IGN 2 but the DRLs do not turn off at all for these locations (even when the trucks is off and locked).

Also, I never got the start up sequence (although that's not the end of the world as long as everything else works properly)

    Any idea?

PS: I've got a 2022 and already installed the morimoto harness (LF531H - Trucks with OEM LED Low / LED High Beam Headlights)

Worked for me after switching to 10A mirrors fuse, They won't turn on until you release the brakes. Don't ask why, I have no idea.

Just got back from Arizona. Awesome trip.
Just wanted to share this part

I tried the 10A mirror fuse but for some reason, the DRL stay on (they don't turn off at all) if I put it there.

    Nice!

Odd because they should have no power to them, different issue than what I had. Just a guess but could be a bad harness. I would call morimoto tech support and explain, they are awesome.

On my ‘22 Pro, I could not find an acc fuse in the engine bay. So I can it to a fuse in the cabin. I ran it to the ACC fuse under the dash.

I think Morimoto needs to get their act together. There is no need for a DRL fuse tap on the ‘22+ since you can bridge the leads on the passenger side to get full 12V. I couldn’t find any pictures of the new harness online. If you could post pictures, some of the more electrical savvy folks may be able to help

I think it's mostly due to the fact that 2022+ 4R headlights have unusual connections

Thanks, I'll try that next week as soon as I am close to the 4R. How did you go through the firewall? Via the small pre-drilled hole? If so, did you remove the fuses and inserted the add a fuse through there or the drl connections? I cant remember which one is smaller?
I've got quite a few wires going through there already so I might need to remove everything first in order to fit the morimoto connections.

I agree, they should update the instructions a little better for newer 4R models.
I'm out of state right now so I can't post any pictures. The harnesses are on page 1 and 2 on the following link 2014 4RUNNER HEADLIGHTS.cdr (morimotohid.com)

I’m guessing you don’t get the startup sequence if you don’t tap a fuse that is powered when the car is turned on and that would be why they aren’t recommending other readily available fuses. If you can live without the startup, seems like the DRL fuse may be an option? Although that could cause issues potentially since you’d be pulling power for two functions from one wire.

Doing similar here on my 2020 but using a relay in the engine bay and trigger wire on the acc fuse to close the circuit. Doing this because had similar issues with DRLs randomly do startup sequence and didn't want to leave the fuse box slightly unsealed

I cut the wire and fed it through the hole on the top left of the firewall.

Here's a good example of what I said a couple of months ago about 4Runner Lifestyle online.

4runner lifestyle is selling Stealth 5th gen taillights for $499 (sold out) I just found the exact same taillights on Ebay for $340
First picture is from 4runner lifestyle web site.

    Second is on ebay.

Most complete aftermarket assemblies are rebranded stuff from Alibaba, even Morimoto gets their assemblies from Coplus (a Taiwanese manufacturer). Not saying that's bad, but quality may not be as tight as OEM suppliers.

Just to explain the price discrepancy. No one "makes" model specific lighting assemblies here, they resell. Some charge a premium for their familiarity with the enthusiast crowd, others sell closer to the jobber price if they think they can profit more overall.
