Runs fine... until it loses power and feels like it is flooding?

I have an '06 SR5 and it runs good, until it doesn't. While driving when I reach the point where I try to accelerate and it runs like it is flooded. I let off of the gas and it will be fine, but I can't go any faster. I cleaned the throttle body (it was very dirty) and it still does the same thing. Are there other sensors that would control the speed or the gas/air mix? What are they and where are they? Thank you!

Does it happen randomly? Or does it act up as soon as it reaches normal operating temperature?

Do you have any check engine lights?

Maybe you already have, but double check there are no vacuum leaks, and the tubing for the intake doesn't have any leaks, either.

    Edit V6, or V8?

It is an '06, V6. It seems to run fine for a while, then it gets to a point (50-60mph) where it will no accelerate and if I let off it will continue to run fine until I try to accelerate. It idols smooth at 1000 rpm, accelerates normally through the gears and when I reach running speed it will not go any faster. I does not run rough. It seems it happens after it is warm. Thanks for your help!

That's definitely an unusual situation. Hopefully someone here has dealt with the same issue, or at least can give you some ideas. It sounds fuel related, but I have no idea where to start with troubleshooting.

There are no lights on! It seems to start a little bit after I start driving. Some times it happens going 60, other times at around 30. There must be something/sensor, other than the throttle body, that controls the air/gas intake???

This reeks of either a plugged cat or a failing fuel pump.

A plugged cat will idle/run fine but at higher RPMs will not allow enough exhaust flow and the engine will bog.

A failing fuel pump will do a very similar problem. Run perfect at low RPMs but when not enough gas, will not have any power.

You can try cleaning or replacing the MAF sensor, it's located in the "air box", it may help or not but still should be done as normal maintenance every few years.

If you try and clean it you need to buy MAF sensor spray cleaner.

Search the forum and or Youtube for how to do this, it's easy but you need to know what you're doing.

    Generic info on MAF sensor.

Throttle position sensor will also cause this……

Just an FYI, the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) on 4Th Gens is built into the throttle body and is not replaceable, you have to replace the entire throttle body to replace a bad TPS.
