That's normal, was probably under filled from the factory. I have a 2022, when I got it I checked the rear diff and had to add 3/4 of a quart to get it full. Transfer and front diff were full.

It doesn't evaporate or dissipate, but if you have a obvious leak then it will get low, or more than likely under filled from factory.

It's easy to overfill them. I just did mine, and once I removed the filler tube, a bunch drained back out.

It wouldn't matter if it had been under-filled from the factory, because you are draining it all out before you refill it anyway. So, you're starting with an empty differential either way.

Was the vehicle sitting level when you filled it?

Yes, it was in my garage on level ground. Although i don't know if this makes any sense my shocks are shot and my rear end sits 3" higher than my front.

They sit higher in the rear from the factory. Maybe not 3", but that shouldn't be an issue. I think they hold 3 quarts +, so you should ould have had less than a quart left, if you bought a gallon.
