I would love to hear from as many as possible as to what their post off roading cleaning regiment looks like!

I feel like I just cannot get my wheels and undercarriage clean.

I recently changed from chrome wheels to the black matte trd wheels.
We went off roading two weekends ago and had a blast. However, trying to get the wheels clean has been a nightmare. I have never had matte rims before and they just wont get clean and have dark spots on em.

after researching I have tried some new products and have had no success. Any tips, suggestions, methods, products would be great assistance!

Mechanical agitation (a nice soft brush/mitt) and car soap always worked for me! They are labor intensive for sure.

thanks! I assume a crawl under the car with a mit and scrub undercarriage would be your approach for that?

a little too much labor, considering switching them back out

Power wash the under carriage. Use soap and a mitt for the rims.

#1 reason I'm sticking with the oem off-road wheels. Good luck finding a solution.

I haven't been mudding, but the OR wheels are very easy to clean, as glwood54 indicates. Two things you could try: spray wax or silicone spray. Sometimes the solvents in those can loosen stains if you scrub a bit while wet.

Iv pressure washed it x4 now: undercarriage still has a dirt film, even used a foam blaster and used a car soap that stated it’s got tough j dirt and film

As far as the undercarriage; I put it on ramps to get more room to work. I either go to a DIY carwash, or hose it off at home. Wear shitty clothes! A pressure washer is ideal for getting more dirt off.

One hack I learned from a friend is to set up a lawn sprinkler underneath, and move it around every so often. This can be done while you work on other projects, like scrubbing your wheels. :D

Yes, or give it a try. Many years ago I cleaned the brake dust staining off my 1984 Supra's wheels with silicone spray. Today I wax my 4Runner Off Road and its wheels with Turtle Ice. Mine never got as muddy as yours, so not sure how well it'll work. But if it does work, it'll also help make them easier to clean next time.

I always use Adams Polishes products on my TRD wheels. Another thing I learned is to get the mud off right away. I have also read many posts about this product from Dr. Beasely's but have no personal experience with it.

    I hope this helps!

I use a toilet brush attached to a power drill, for the wheels, it works like a charm.

everything else is a power washer and multiple buckets with different microfiber towels

That stuff has gone way up in price, I tried it ad to me its not that impressive for what it costs. The t4R matte wheels are the worst finish i have ever had to deal with, they always look dirty to me and i have tried a lot of different products. I'm using shine supply wise guy right now and it does a pretty good job. Also with mud you gotta get that stuff of quick or it stains trim plastics as well, never let it sit a while before you decide to clean it.
