So just bought a 2022 TRD Off Road Premium for my wife tonight! It has KDSS so from the cursory review of this post that seems to be an issue. I would like something that gives good clearance but not super important. Running boards or a step is good. Pardon my ignorance on the terminology. Recommendations?

Nice! Do they come powder coated? Or do we have to do that after we get them?

I think they come bare, but I thought I read something about being a powder coat option, but did not see it when I checked out. I know that is about as clear as mud, but mud is what I got. Maybe in a few weeks I can tell you more once I get mine. They are one of the more expensive ones, but after weeks of debate, and I don't know why, but those are the ones I ordered, full plates with Logo.

RSG all the way. 0 degree, kick out, powder coated. I have KDSS and it was not an issue. Pulled off the KDSS "skid" (OEM), used webbing to gently pull the hydraulic lines out a bit and maneuvered slider into place with a motorcycle lift. Slight trim on the KDSS "skid", painted and re- installed the "skid". Came with detailed instructions and pics. Easy peasey.

I also love my RSG sliders. Went angled here, and no kick out (i wanted the most tuck, and most minimal hanging out/over) but, any choice from RSG, imho cant go wrong. Love the look, the install (did mine alone, in my driveway, zero lifting device) and they work. I teeter-tottered the rig on both sides while at moab 2 weeks ago. Big heavy as hell brick, ... and they didn't bat an eye. I got my uncoated, and shot my with raptor liner in my shed. I can touch em up when ever i need/want, and just thrilled with the entire process from RSG. From looking, buying, ordering, receiving, install, and use. Couldn't be happier. The only thing that I am upset about having to do with them, is i didn't get them sooner.
The second weekend after buying the rig, we went out (fishing, and tooling around) and on the way home, on a dirt road, i moved way way over to the right, to let a on coming sedan easily get by/through. When i did that, i ran over one of those metal pound in the ground fence stakes. It flipped up, and put a mean dent in my passenger side door. Sounded like a damn shot gun going off in the cabin. Scared me, the better half, and the dogs to death. Pulled over to see the monster dent, about bawled. (id had the thing for like 9 days) Had i had these on, it certainly would have kicked up, and smacked the slider. Completely save me? I don't know, but, id be willing to bet, yes, hell yes.

I’ve narrowed my choice to RSG and RCI. Going for too plate and kick out. Any reason to choose one over the other?

I have RSG and love them.
RCI are less expensive, I like the dimpled top plate and they don't come 0 degree if that's important to you. Build wise appear comparable.
RSG gives you the option of HREW or DOM.

Been debating between RSG or C4 sliders. I found a local guy selling a set of C4 sliders for $675. Wondering if I should pull the trigger or spend the extra money for some RSG sliders. Thoughts?

There are significant differences between them. Mostly cosmetic differences but still. If you get the RSG sliders new you can get them just the way you want them. With or without kick out. Angled or flat. If you are buying sliders from a third party you don’t get a choice. On the plus side it looks like all C4 sliders are made from DOM tubing. But the step plates on the C4 sliders are not full length.

if the C4 sliders are in pristine shape, and were painted well, they might be worth a look.

    Appreciate the input!

I agree, it would be nice to be able to select what/how I want them. The C4 sliders are actually in pretty good shape for being used and come painted so that saves some money. If I had to choose I would go with RSG due to looks and positive reviews but the price of the used C4 sliders might be too good to pass up.

One last question: does anyone know if KDSS sliders can be used on non-KDSS 4Runner models?

I believe they can be, but I suspect the mount on the driver’s side will be less sturdy. At least that seems to be the case with the RSGs. The forward mounting plate is shorter to account for the KDSS valves.

Both can be acquired DOM, beyond that is cosmetic preference. Sounds like the C4 set is a hell of a deal, those have my vote.

Pulled the trigger on the C4 sliders. Pretty happy with how they turned out.

I’m very happy that I went with Westcott Designs. Opted for powder coated, 0 degree, no kick out, DOM, with top plates. Not the cheapest and had to wait, but they are exactly what I was looking for. Work well enough as a step, but don’t look like a running board. Bolted onto the side of frame without any bolt alignment issues. Only factory bolts that had to be removed (I don’t have KDSS) were for the parking brake cable brackets. Suggest taking a look at Westcott Designs.

I am super happy with my sliders from Wescott Designs. DOM, powder coat, 0 degree. Even when wet they work very well as a step, just have to use caution. I really like the side protection they provide, as well as from below. I do have KDSS and the sliders are manufactured with frame mounts that work around the accumulator. No alterations required, and the bolt holes lined up perfectly.

This may seem a little oddball, but I would be interested in a slider design constructed out of thick wall aluminum. It certainly wouldn’t offer the same protection as DOM, but for occasional light obstacle encounters, it would protect the running boards. I’m not a rock crawler enthusiast so I am not interested in adding a 100+ lbs of dead weight to the vehicle.

How many inches of step do you have for the front on the c4 sliders? Debating on getting these too.

I bought 4xInnovations after watching this vid. I beat the hell out of 'em in Moab. Unlike some other sliders that only bolt up on the outboard side of the frame, these bolt up on 3 sides of the frame. The mounting points cup the frame. I used POR-15 to coat the sliders.
