I just bought a 2006 4Runner SR5 that had been sitting for three years. Is it possible to manually open the hatch from the inside? I have tried and tried to open it from the outside but nothing. Is the latch electric?? I have taken the inside panel off by I can't get it to budge! There is a little play (minor movement) with the hatch, so it's not stuck! The latch just will not release!!

The actuator is electronic. Wont work without power and if it fails thats it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSNMyV9ZOfE
The video the guy has his hatch open to do this work. Its annoying but every step can still be done from the inside of the vehicle.
