Thanks, I appreciate it! The departure angle and tightness to the tailgate were big factors, one of the reasons I liked DOM best. The departure angle had me leaning towards dirtcom after watching their video. Since you've seen them both, what are your thoughts?

That C4 does look good! Aside from the price, I'm also a little concerned about weight and rust. I've been looking a lot at the coastal offroad aluminum versions - I can't weld but used to work closely with a good shop that would probably do the work for me for a good price

I haven’t played enough with the Rigd to be fair. I like the way mine tightens down, 80 ft lbs is a big boy tight fit. Not sure if you have a ladder, but the left handed swing is nice because the accessories end up on the passenger side. I’ll end up holding a 3 gallon and 2 gallon rotopax without issues.

My buddy flat out loves his though. Said he wouldn’t swap even after I sent him the video.

Yeah, I do have a ladder and I didn't think about clearance issues with accessories. I was looking at the extra mounts to put a few rotopax for extra fuel and water when I was playing around with configurations yesterday. Not that I need the extra liquids but I tend to follow the boy scout thought of always be prepared. I could be like my neighbor and haul them around all the time but they seem easy enough to store and throw on just for trips :p

Yeah I was on the fence for the aluminum heftyfab bumper. But the lead time was a bit much.

Right there with ya man. I drive some nuts because I always have a chain saw with me.

re: clearance though, technically you could move the mount further out but that will jack with your departure angle.

I’ve got a somewhat custom set up which uses an AEV Jeep Jk tire carrier, but if you have a good shop already could probably knock out it out for just over a thousand. It does require cutting up the rear bumper a little though

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I bought a cheap chinese steel rear bumper (non-tire carrier) for my Jeep. I paid around $300 for it. It came missing hardware, open box, with paint scuffs. I called Extreme Terrain who gave me the choice of shipping it back for a refund, or a $150 credit to my credit card, or a $180 in store credit.

I took the in store credit and bought my own replacement hardware for it.

It does the job. In this pic I'm at the top of a steep rocky hill winching the jeep below me. My cheap bottom of the barrel steel rear bumper is tied off to a tree behind me using both shackles and a tree strap.

Didnt say it wouldnt work, but Ive been in the Jeep community a long time, fitment, coatings, hardware, quality of material in the short and long run just wasn't there. And dont get me started with Extreme Terrain. Had my best luck with Northridge4x4 by far.

Anyone have the Dirtcom tire swing and used it with a 1UP or QuikrStuff bike rack? Will these bike racks work with that tire swing?
