Antenna alternatives?

    The motor for my antenna kicks on and makes noise but the antenna does not raise or lower. Has anyone replaced or disconnected it and use something newer and shorter? Or is there an easy fix?

    I hated the telescoping antenna and just wanted a standard whip antenna. The motor worked fine, but a small dent in the antenna meant it didn't go down all the way. So I replaced mine with all of the OEM antenna parts. For the antenna mast, I'd look for one at a junkyard. No way it should cost what they're charging. Just make sure when you pull out the old antenna cable, that you tie a string to it. That will give you something to pull the new antenna cable back through.

    Common problem. Just disconnect the wires to the motor and leave the factory mast. You can reach it behind the wheel well liner if you take a few screws out. Remember to push it in/retract before the car wash. Ask me how I know.
