Why not? I love both right and left retrieve and it helps with keeping both arms in shape lol. Jokes aside it really helps with long days of fishing so you don’t get too fatigued

Interesting. Good idea if you're comfortable with both hands!

I'm kind of the same way, but it's because I'm more comfortable throwing a low profile baitcaster left handed and a spinning rod right handed. To make it more confusing, I cast big round baitcasters right handed. :D

It’s actually not that bad. With my casting reels they are all set up on the left. Started baitcasting about 2 years ago and my first budget combo was a righty. I became used to that and kept buying right bightcasters. Bought my first slx dc in a righty and wanted another so I bought a lefty to change it up haha. Having both actually made me a better caster, and sadly not better at catching the fish lol

A friend of mine Daughter likes to go fishing with us she has the worst luck at casting or basically anything to do with casting a line and it don't matter if it is from the shore or boat she gets tangles, bait flying off on it's own directions not with the hook you name it it happens..... But Yet I tell anyone who never fished with her before "don't make fun of her because you'll regret it" <----- with a smile of course, The Reason is for some darn reason she catches More Fish than anyone and catches fish when No one else does. So I always let em know when I'm going fishing because If I don't catch any? she already hit limit and certainly will catch another or two.

LOL this is my gf. She’s probably not as bad at casting as your friends daughter, but whenever she’s with me in the boat we pretty much catch the limit if not exceed it

That's when you're fighting a big tuna (like a yellowfin) or several smaller tuna (like albacore) in succession and fall to your knees (or, you could have slipped on a bloody deck and fallen). I saw a deckhand cut a snarl and retire 6 lines and not lose any of five albacore and a dorado (mine).

Glamour shot at a lake I hadn't been to previously with a new rod and reel I picked up last week.. The rod is an Echo River Glass 8'6" 5wt and is fiberglass. The reel is a Taylor Series-1. The lake has cutthroat, brookies, and lake trout (allegedly) and is at 11200 feet.

That pole reminds me of my dad’s small ice fishing pole was that color. Not sure what happened to it.
Those trout must be starving? Air-drop stocking?

The trout were there, but too far out for me to cast to with my fly rod. You could see the rises. Colorado does stock a lot of lakes by aircraft - there's a ton of videos on YouTube. Cool to watch!

I'm not sure how long this deal is going on, but I just ordered a Slammer IV 2500 for $180! I've wanted a Slammer for awhile, and couldn't pass it up.

    :woot:

Now I need to find a rod to pair it with. I'll be using it to cast around docks, mangrove, canals, and inshore for snook, redfish and Jack Crevalle. I'm torn between 15 and 20# braid. Edit: I'll also use it for bass fishing here in Wisconsin.

It's not supposed to show up for a few weeks, so I have time to figure it out. OTOH, I might run to Cabela's tomorrow, so it could end up being an impulse buy if something looks really good.

    281 miles, approximately. :D

Close enough to be able to visit, but not close enough to get me in trouble.

Yes, a lot of people here love St Croix rods. They were the gold standard for Musky, and then expanded more into the market.

I'll make it a point to check some of them out. I usually try not to spend a lot on rods, though, and a lot of theirs are a bit pricey for my taste.

I currently have a few Cabelas Salt Striker spinning rods paired with different Penn reels. They're holding up very well, and I've been having really good luck with store brand rods for years.

Ha, most of my name brand rods are Ugly Stix, because I love them for bait fishing. I have some Ugly Cats, a Tiger, and a Big Water with a Fathom 60LW that's about to get new line before I head to Florida. :woot:

Edit:. I need a hanger setup like yours in my garage!
