Been scrolling lots of threads and still curious as my 2005 4Runner has 240,000 miles and keeps going. She just keeps going and going and runs like great! Drove her off the lot new with 47 miles under her tires and here we are today. My question is how long will she keep going? Been looking at new 4Runners but not much for the 5th gen and don’t see much of any 4th gen with low mileage out there. Just posting for curious conversation and thoughts on the whole 240,000 and growing topic. Cheers!

With good maintenance, 300-400K should be no problem. Are you thinking about holding off for a 6th gen?

I've got a friend who's pushing half a million miles on his 2001. You're just getting broken in with yours!

Thank you for the replies! Sounds like we will just keep cruising with many more miles to go We will see about the 6th generation once it’s released and reports are in, not to mention price!!!

I'd drive it 'til the motor blows, or it falls apart from rust.

Change the oil on time and I'm pretty confident you'll get 300k out of one

    Keep on driving!
Many more T4Rs die of accidents than high mileage, and that even includes those that have been neglected!!

There have been 2 Tundras that have the same V8 that's in the 4th Gen T4Rs that got to 1 million miles, Toyota bought both of them back to do research, the first one when they torn down the engine it still had the original honing marks in the cylinder walls, replace the timing belt when due and change the oil on time and you maybe the first T4R to reach that mileage!!

V8. Changed the timing belt at 100k and at 200k, all maintenance has been kept up so hopefully all of you are correct and she will keep running!!!

My '07 Sport is at 231K and still nothing short of awesome. Love this truck and will drive it as long as I can. Image is a drone shot by GA4R member Camdon Wishnia on our Cashes Valley Road trail ride here in north Georgia.

I sold my gx470 at 260k. the motor was still strong, but the transmission was acting up, and having to tow my boat (2,200 pounds with trailer and gear) it was time to get rid of it. I miss it, mainly for the powerplant, but I love my 5th gen.

I've got 260K on mine, all maintenance is done on time, every time. I believe that is the key to longevity.
