Hey gang! We just bought a nice little camper and it has electric trailer brakes.
Is the 4runner set up for this? It has the tow package with both 4 flat and 7 round (that may not be exactly correct but you get it).
The 4runner came with a white connector that has short wires and a wiring diagram.

I believe this is to be wired into an aftermarket brake controller, then plugged in under the dash.
Is that even close? The RV dealer wants to sell/ install a wireless brake controller... but I'd much rather use what the truck has.

Can confirm the Redarc is good.

I have used it for over a year towing a pop-up camper over the Sierra (Tioga Pass, Sonora Pass, etc) about five or six round trips and it works great.

Reasons I think it works great:
    • nice switch mount with simple knob near other controls around driver
    • braking is progressive with the electro-magnetic brakes in my camper (previous controller would overdo it at low speed and not enough at high speed. application curve adjustments didn't help)
    • intuitive use with no app dependency or complicated configuration (turn the dial for brake rate, illumination color to indicate status)
    • has required zero fidgeting and adjustment since initial install

There's a harness under the dash for it.

    Just a quick update-
I bought a lower cost proportional control made by Hopkins. Found it in stock at auto parts store. I butt spliced the unit onto the pigtail connector supplied with the truck and plugged it in.

Working great. Maybe upgrade controller in the future but for now we are on the road!

    Thanks Gang!

Did you have to mount the ground connector to anything under the dash or did that splice into the factory harness?
