Factory service manual availability?

Hello all!

I have decided to take the maintenance / repair job away from my local dealership. I have a good independent mechanic for the things that I'm over my head on.

I am looking for a factory service manual for the 2021. I'm not finding much.

First question - has anyone had any luck laying hands on a 2021 FSM?
Second question - Is there enough difference between the year models that any 5th gen manual would be fairly usable?

 

There is no hard copy available. It’s a living document in the online Toyota Technical Information System (TIS). There are various subscription rates for access from 2 days to a year.

What exactly are you looking for? Oil change intervals, to include the diffs? Spark plug replacement? Normal maintenance services?

 

Well, the intervals are all in the owners manual...so no problem there. What is not in the owners manual is procedures and specs. In a previous chapter of my life, I owned a Honda. I bought the FSM book, and I swear you could take the whole vehicle apart and put it back together by following the instructions in that. I have never owned a Toyota FSM, but if I'm going to start doing as much of my maintenance and repairs as I can, the FSM seems like a logical first tool to buy.

 

Long gone are the days of paper Chilton's manuals. Everything is digital now. In most dealership service departments, there are computers for the tech to use. I remember having to learn basic German when I worked at a Accura/ Mercedes dealership just to navigate to the English side of the program

 

Thanks for bird dogging this! I think I will be using the 2 day subscription option 2 or 3 times a year (we have 3 Toyotas in the driveway).

 

There is Limited Hard Copies and not Cheap at all they sell by separate sections like for fuel injector sys, AC System and when I mentioned not cheap like near $800 just for the AC section.

For 2011 down hard copies are available for much more reasonable price and a 9 book set runs around $350 or so Search for Quikby Garage he specializes in Service manual sets decent pricing.

Added. The TIS site is the Best you can down load limited stuff in PDF and use snipping tool too

 

There’s a lot of routine maintenance instructions and info in this forum and the other one also (T4R). You’ll mostly be just changing fluids and filters for the first 100,000 miles.
