Do all 4runners have this design in the rear quarter window?
20220723_141224.jpg Someone asked me about it, and I have no idea if it's permanent, or can be removed. In the 3 years I've owned it, I never really gave it much thought. Now I'm just confused

Pretty sure that’s for the defrost function. Same thing that your rear window has.

    Bone stock!
That's the FM radio antenna. I thought they were window defrosters when I first got mine, so it's not a silly question!

I believe it is the AM/FM antenna.

That makes total sense, and I was for sure they were meant to be there, but the other person insisted he had seen others without them.

Its def the AM/FM antennae. Not sure what year they started doing it that way, but my 2017 does not have one.

Thank you. I was trying to remember if my friend's 2016 had it, but she sold hers and couldn't remember.

I gotta say, I was feeling pretty embarrassed not knowing what it was exactly.

My 07 Volvo wagon has something similar, but my 13 4R does not.

My 2002 Runner had one, and my 2017 SR5 P also has it. It is indeed the radio antenna, and they work very well, i would keep it.

I wasn't aiming to get rid of it. I figured it was there for a reason, but after talking to someone about it wasn't sure.

Those would seem to give the 4Runner the same lousy blind spots that the FJ Cruiser was (in)famous for...

That's odd. My former 14, former 17, (and current 19) all had / have them. Not sure why a model 3 years newer than my 14 wouldn't have them.
