That is a sick build you got going on. Great ideas and innovations. Now I want to know where you ran the wiring after making them go out the back of your rack. I was thinking of having the wiring go out the front of the rack and down the rain channel but maybe there is a better way?

I had too many wires to fit down the channels along side the windshield. So I just ran them straight out the back and down along the hatch seal. Then behind the taillights, under the truck and along the frame rail, then up into the engine bay.

Do you guys know if I can apply loctite to all the bolts when install the Prinsu, sherpa, etc modular roof rack system?
The installation guides never call for any loctite but say do check the torque every 1000 miles.

I'm planning to install it to my sister's truck, and I don't see her ever going to check the rack or torque the bolts. Maybe locking the threads is a good approach if she never plans on touching or uninstalling it?

Number 242 or 243 is what you need (both blue). Made for assemblies that need to come back apart at times. Medium strength. There are other designations (also blue) that may not be appropriate here.

Not trying for pedantry, just have used a lot of threadlockers in motorcycle and engine building and I thought I'd chime in.

I can not decide between these two right now but need to soon. Love the mounting of the Sherpa but would like to support a local company in Westcott

2 questions for ya, 1. which thule model did you get? I tried to fit one on the oem cross bars with the TRD Pro rack and it didn't work out. 2. Did you ever install the awning? If so pics?

My Rola basket came today. It's more substantial than I expected, but it has a lot of bad welds. They're all strong enough, but there gaps that would allow moisture intrusion. I had already planned to sand and paint it, but in between those steps, I think I'll clean up some bad spots with JB Weld. If I had the skills and tools, I'd do some real welding, as others have posted, but not for this project.

Just brought mine home from dealership 2 days ago, I will be removing the one from the dealer .. Have been researching the best roof racks.. Clearly there are a lot to pick from.. What I would like.. is to find one that is Well Built and semi easy to install. I have a Tepui rooftop tent so I would like one that I can Easily attach the tent off and on with just me and another friend helping.. So would also like to find the best quick release for that..
    1. Frontrunner?
    2. Westcott?
    3. Prinsue?

Anyone else have another I should check out?

    For all the gobi racks.
I know the rack has the wind faring and a clear vinyl type strip that that gets added for protection, has anyone noticed any wearing through that and into the paint? How tight did you mount the faring to the body?
