It makes you wonder about using reserve fuel supply to supplement fuel cost, vs. allowing companies to use our country’s resources better.

Yes I agree. It seems like the price decline was negligible after opening the reserves.

My opinion is the risk far outweighs the benefit to open the reserves.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
The US sits atop a ocean of oil, enough to supply us AND Europe for 100yrs. Put the green deal on the back burner as this could explode to a far greater environmental disaster than ever imagined(nuclear war). Put Russia out of the energy business and defeat them without firing a shot. PUMP!

Probably, why let the Americans support what we need off of our own resources, oh yea because orange man was bad lmao...I’m sure we will have those long lines on days were only certain people can get fuel like those times long ago. But for as long as we are not dependent on our own, more people will be jobless & another bird or squirrel might survive? I don’t know.

In short, this crisis is because of huge frauds of politicians. Now there are no money to purchase fuel (petrol, diesel, cooking gas, etc..). Since there is no diesel to run the power suppling generators there is very limited electricity supply. That impacts factories and other industries bringing in revenue worsening the crisis. As of now schools are closed as there are transportation issue since all commercial vehicles like busses, vans, trains run on diesel.

Protests are going on for months and months for president, priminister and everyone in parliament to go home. Politicians are using police and army forces to attack innocent protesters and Law teams are fighting as hard as they can for democracy.

In addition to fuel there is big shortages in food and medicine. People especially children die because there is no medicine in hospitals.

If you check for the hash tag #gotagohome on facebook you may find more details on this.

Here's one of the pic from that page. This is not a traffic jam. People are waiting for days for a fuel tanker to come to gas station. People die almost every week because they are exhausted waiting, lack of food, water, sleep waiting in queue.

And now it appears our US oil reserves are going overseas including China?? So let me get this straight we give our oil away and somehow this is supposed to help Americans pay less at the pump

Nobody cares about China and India buying cheap Russian oil and then to add salt to the wound we give our US reserves to them. Unreal.

When I got home from work, I was hit with that during our family discussion about each other’s day. Made my day at work seem insufficient.

Can’t tell from the article who decided to do the oil shipments. Just that it happened.
The US does allow export of oil so maybe oil companies figured they’d get more profit overseas. These articles never seem to answer the questions they stir up.

Does not matter anyway how you cut it and does not matter who made the decision. It’s absolutely disgusting that this has happened during this crisis.

It is totally screwing over your fellow American in my book plain and simple.

My understanding is the oil reserves are under the control of the government. It’s oil the government has set aside for national security.

I believe that technique is known as "The Tucker Carlson". Ask a question designed as an accusation, secure in the knowledge that your minions will accept it as a statement of fact.

This is completely political, as you intended. Last time I checked, the government does not control the price of crude oil, and with supply and demand fluctuating so much over the past 2-3 years, it is no wonder why producers are not back up to speed. If you remember back in 2020, crude dipped below $0 due to lack of demand, and now it's averaging over $110. My oil-heavy mutual funds are doing great because of this.
Nobody cares about the human rights violations in Sri Lanka, only that they are having a fuel crisis.

I don't know why all this debate. Sri Lanka has fuel shortage because they have no money to import gas.

Here in the USA we have gas in the country and i don't think politicians steal tax money or peoples money and put them in their personal accounts. There is better law and order in USA as far as I know.

That’s a pretty nice pool, he obviously wasn’t struggling...sounds pretty familiar to a economy we now have to deal with all of a sudden. Time to go to Scranton, PA!!!

“About 1 million barrels per day is being released from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) through October.”

    What a coincidence…..Up to the midterms….

The current administration is using oil that the taxpayers bought for their party’s benefit at the polls in November.
