Just saying hello. I have a 2010 4Runner SR5 2wd with 336k on the odom. We bought it from my wife's work. It was a fleet vehicle that had been serviced at a Toyota dealership for 90% of it's life at the company. We bought it with 333k. I've had to replace a few things:

    1. passenger side exhaust manifold
    2. all of the door and hatch strip moldings
    3. pads and rotors
    4. tires
    5. rear diff fluid and oil change
    6. it qualified for the Toyota paint recall on the white 4Runners so it's currently at the dealership getting the front end repainted
    7. Reconditioned the front headlights with Adam's Graphene headlight kit
    8. replaced the DRL housing on passenger side

Best thing is that basically everything electronically works. I've always been a Nissan guy but I understand now why people love these 4Runners because it is a very good truck/SUV.

I do have a small oil leak that I gotta figure out. I think it might be the "OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY" but not 100% sure yet. Apparently it's a very small and slow leak but I gotta clean the area better to know for sure.

Since the truck is at the dealership getting painted, I asked they guy to have a tech diagnose the oil leak and so hopefully I'll know soon. Depending on what it is (hopefully nothing major) I might just have them do it since the truck will be pulled apart anyway. In theory should save me on labor. The truck runs so well that I am hoping we can get it past 500k.

Not yet. My wife is supposed to be working on that. She has worked for this company for about 15 years and they always service everything at the dealership and judging by how good of a condition the truck is in and how well it does run, I'm pretty confident it was. This was a company salesman's truck that drove a ton of highway.

I had a friend who is a big 4runner guy look at it before I bought it (only paid $4400) and he was amazed at how well it looked inside and out. He thought it might have 150k on it, not 333k. There is no rust at all, all bushings are in good shape, AC works, engine and trans are smooth. Interior is in good condition minus the drive seat egress seat bolster. Gets like 22mpg hwy. All electronics work. I replaced all 4 tires and the spare. The rear diff fluid was in good condition when I changed it (probably could have waited til 400k). I still need to do the transmission fluid and filter and spark plugs. Like I said, I want to get it past 500k.

That’s awesome. You’ll get 500k out of it! I bought a fleet car that had 280k on it for an ex. It had almost 400k trouble free miles when she hauled her shit off in it lol, but it was starting to need a bunch of little stuff replaced here and there. Fixing little stuff is cheaper than a new car payment. There’s a 2wd to SA 4x4 build thread somewhere around here…

Hope so. It's my wife's daily and family trip vehicle so it'll get more highway miles for sure.

Just found out that the oil leak is most likely the power steering pump. Gonna get it replaced along with the serpentine belt since its gotta be pulled anyway. Apparently it's been a slow "weeping" leak for a while because there is a good bit of cleanup that needs to be done to know for sure. Other possibility is the oil pan gasket or worse, the timing chain cover. Gonna start with the power steering pump first though.

I have a 2011 with only 114k. I'm super pumped yours looks as good as it does at 333k. Enjoy!

When I get it back from paint, I'll get some pics of the underside as well.

So was it the power steering shaft seal that was leaking?

The leak is timing chain cover. It doesn't leak much between oil changes, maybe a 1/2 cup, if that. Not gonna do anything about it since the fix is pretty involved and costly until it becomes a much bigger issue.
