Debating between 285/70/17 Duratracs and in load range D and 275/70/17 BGF KO2's in load range E.

My question is; Do any of you who went to 285's regret your decision at all? I had 285's on my Tacoma and the power loss was quite noticeable but not undriveable. I don't want the 275's to end up looking too small with a 2.5" lift and I can't bring myself to stay with the stock size. The 275's actually weigh 1 more pound than the 285's so I'm wondering if the power loss would pretty much be a wash between the two.

The stock tire size for a 4runner is larger than a Tacoma, and the 4Runner has a few more horses to it so maybe the power loss won't be as significant as what I experienced before?

I am not worried about gas mileage or trimming just the power loss...

BFG KO2 285 and 3" lift with light racing UCA's. Didn't need wheel spacers and just cut off a small corner of the fender. Can definitely notice it's heavier but not by much.

ZERO REGEEEEERTS. Small power loss but my truck is still fast.

Any others have any more input? I need to order the tires by the end of the week and I'm still a little undecided. 285's vs. 275's.....

Got super tucked today with my 285s. No rubbing. I love them.

    I have no regerts.

No obvious power loss and no noticeable increase in fuel consumption. Definite increase in awesome, though.

Had to trim the front fender liners slightly to avoid rubbing when backing (2.5" lift).

I see a picture of a rear wheel tucked, what about the fronts at full lock?

Specifically asking about 285s and a 2.5 or 3" lift in the front.

I have 285s. No regrets. I used to have 285/75/17's (34") but downsized to 285/70/17 (33") due to power and looks. I think 34 looked weird.

But I love the new size! Also, if you aren't certain on a tire yet, I love my Toyo R/Ts

Did going down to 33" from 34" make a big difference in power? I love Toyo R/T's but they are spendy!! If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for them? Online they are like $298...

I am leaning toward 285 KO2's. They are smallish for a 285 it seems at 32.7". I've even read about some complaints from others saying they don't look like an actual 285. So maybe that will be a good compromise for me.

I didnt catch one of those. I have been wheeling on my 285 70 17 for 3 months now and have gotten pretty tucked up front. Almost no noticable rub. I have never jad an issue and I have never trimmed my fenders.

I ha e a 2.75 lift amd it is actually pretty difficult to get the front to tuck completely.

I got my RTs for 250 a piece but my dad's friend works for Toyo so he got them from their factory for me. I love them way more than my old Toyo AT II's and my MT's.

Tires are ordered. Went with new 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grappler's. I got lucky and the new load range C just came out today and Discount Tire had 10 in stock. Should be here next week!

Pretty obvious they are trying to compete with the Duratracs. The load range C are only 54 pounds. I'll report back when I get them installed.

I have zero complaints so far. Very smooth, super quiet, good traction, well balanced. Took them out on some forest service roads and they did great offroad. Only time will tell on longevity but other than that I think they are a very good agressive all-terrain tire. The load range C seems perfect for our rigs.

2.5" up front, 1.5" in the rear. Slight rub at full lock. Removed the mudflaps and pushed the front fender liner forward...no more rubbing.

Looks good. I couldn't tell. The FX 17x8 wheels look the same. Think I'll stick with my stock wheels too (at least for now)

Thanks Yeah it doesn't look bad The tires make a big difference. I think later this year I might get some new wheels but I'm happy with everything for now.

I know this is very old thread but would you still do 285’s today or did they Rob to much HP. Can’t decided to stay with stock size or go to 285’s

I absolutely love 285s. Even my Limited came with skinny tires now got 285/70R17.

Be careful with Load E 275 / 285s. Me personally don't like the on road feeling of Load E tires. My off-roading TRD got 285 Load C and pavement princes Limited got 285 SL (standard load).

If I go with 285 it’ll be in SL or XL loads. Just scared of the acceleration loss
