This has been happening sporadically recently. It happened yesterday and before that it happened a few weeks ago. When I shift into PARK, turn the key to the OFF position and remove the key, the engine stays on (with some random lights on/flashing on the dash cluster). When I re-insert the key to the ON position (while engine still running), put it in reverse or drive, then back to park, and try shutting it off it happens again - stays on. Sometimes I have to do this a few times and or drive around again, then I am able to shut off the vehicle. Anyone know why this happens or has this happened to anyone before? Is it a sign of something that needs replacing? I don't have any major mods. The only thing I can think of is I have an Accessorides remote start and a Pedal Commander (but have been using both for a while with no issues). Thanks for any input!

I would be suspect of the remote start, precisely because it’s an electrical accessory designed to keep the car running without a key. It’s the first thing I would check.

I've had a failure of an aftermarket remote start before. Not the same symptoms, but starter staying engaged and parasitic drain, among other things. Pulled the two fuses and everything settled down. I now won't even consider buying an aftermarket remote start. Can you locate the fuse(s) for yours? Mine were in the steering column.

I would check with Accessorides. They have always been helpful when I had an issue with mine. I believe what you have turned on is "pit stop" mode. I had this in a truck once with a Compustar remote start system. It allows you to keep the car on without a key so you can make quick stops where you dont want to turn the vehicle off. For example on a cold winter day when you want to run inside a convenience store. You can lock the door with the key and keep it running.

I also concur with regard to the aftermarket remote starter. Had one on my wife’s car go bonkers and it’s always in the back of my mind with mine.

You could also have a faulty ignition switch.

    Wow, that’s a weird one.

As others stated, remove aftermarket electrical mods and hopefully that will fix it.

    So maybe it’s not a bug, it’s a feature?

Yes BUT it should only work when activated when needed. It should not just stay on like that. Possibly a bad bypass module with a stuck relay. The bypass module is essentially the remote start unit. I have the push button start for my car so I dont have a key. I dont have that feature but wish I did.

When you mentioned that there are random lights, which ones are they? Do they only come on when the key is out?
