    Hi,

I am 4Runner newbie having just being the highest bidder. The 4Runner has spent its entire life in dry, semi-arid climates so it is rust free or appears to be from the posting.

The vehicle has a clean 4 owner, no accident, carfax report with 197,404 miles.

The following was done at 170K miles:
    Vehicle serviced
    - Strut(s) replaced
    - Tune-up performed
    - Spark plug wires replaced
    - Spark plug(s) replaced
    - Engine idle/timing adjusted
    - Four wheel alignment performed
    - Alignment performed
    - Tire condition and pressure checked
    - Steering/suspension checked
    - Wheel bearings checked
    - Shock absorber(s) replaced
    - Electrical system checked
    - Fuel injection system flushed/serviced

The seller did disclose that the water pump has a slight leak and a/c line not present although I have yet flown up to Colorado to pick up the vehicle.

What should I have checked before attempting to drive the vehicle from the Denver area to Houston besides replace water pump and get a/c working?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rusty

Check all your fluids and make sure they are in good condition. Also find out when the timing belt and drive belts were replaced as well as the radiator hoses. Timing should be done at every 60k miles so it should have been done somewhere after 120k miles. There should be a sticker somewhere in the engine bay if it was done by a shop. You may also want to have it checked by a qualified mech just to make sure there are no surprises. And good luck. Post pictures when you can.

    Thanks!!!

These were the items serviced at 150 and 170K miles, however latest odometer reading is 196,271. This is only what Carfax reported so it is probably incomplete. I am planning on getting fluids replaced, safety check, drive belts replaced, radiator hoses replaced and if needed timing belt replaced before I make the drive.

    Thank you for your advice.
