Hey guys, I just recently swapped out my stock tires and rims on my 2022 4Runner TRD sport for some TRD pro 17” rims and 265/70/17 faulken wildpeaks. After I got them installed I noticed my front left is experiencing some tire rub only in reverse when the wheel is pulled all the way one way. I noticed the two front wheel wells aren’t identical and that the front left has a little less room and is causing the rub. I bought 2” spacers before realizing this issue and am thinking this will fix the rubbing.

The vented wheel well is the side that doesn’t rub while the closed well is the side that does rub.

I am brand new to the car world so any work I do will be minimal and I appreciate any advice.

If it's rubbing in the back of the fender well:

    1) Do the fender liner mod (look that one up). It's really easy.

    2) Get an alignment and have them set the caster around 3.5 degrees.

If it's rubbing in the front of the fender well:

    1) Do the fender liner mod (look that one up). It's really easy.

From what I hear those tires, even at stock size, fit more like 275's due to tread size/configuration

It's the combination of pro wheels and a slightly larger tire diameter.

The Pro wheels have a lower offset which pushes the tire out and increases your tire scrub. This will tend to knick fender liners here and there.

Just follow my tips above to fix.

I appreciate it guys, thanks. I looked up a video and it seems fairly simple.

On another note would adding 2” spacers fix this issue? I already ordered them as I wanted to lift it a bit and if I can just add these instead of trimming I think I’ll stick with that.

No. 2" is way too much IMO.

I guess its the TRD Pro wheels offset causing that rubbing. Here's how I push that fender liner forward to clear 285/70R17s

No, a lift will not solve this issue. The rubbing occurs because of the narrowness of our fender wells from side to side (not top to bottom). When you push the tires out of the wheel well (with a lower offset wheel like the Pro wheels), your tires are more likely to hit those narrower areas when turning.
