    Hello from Australia
I drive a Prado which is basically the same as the 4RUNNER with the 1GR-FE 4 liter engine in front of the AC60 automatic transmission.
My car is primarily a tow vehicle and I am trying to find out from those who have fitted the Magnuson superchargers who gains I can expect.
I am looking for before and after dyno curves...
My particular rev range of interest is from 1600 RPM. At this engine speed in 6th gear the car will do 100 kph easily which is our speed limit over here.
With the caravan in tow the engine prefers to be in 5th hunting between 1900 and 2300 rpm as the torque converter lock hunts in and out.
It takes just a slight downhill grade or a puff of tail wind and it will pull 6th gear and drop down to 1600 rpm.
With just a little bit more torque from a supercharger we believe we could do it.
The problem I am finding is dyno curve from before and after that show what is happening down at 1600 rpm !
Can anyone point me i9n the right direction please
    Regards
    Darryl

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin! I do not have the torque specs. but the dyno pull I saw said a 30% increase in horsepower @ 6psi of boost. There is a "search" in the upper right corner on the forum. There should also be something on the Magnuson supercharger website. Maybe a drop in gear ratio would help find the rpm one way or another to get the engine where it needs to be. Not much help, but I know the info is out there.

Thanks for the reply...all I have been able to find from Magnuson (attached) starts at 2900 rpm. All the Magnuson people here can tell me is that there will be "some gain" at the low revs because the supercharger starts pumping straight away but I am an engineer and "some gain" doesn't cut it with me.
I agree, the 5th gear looks like it is where I am going to have to be happy with, best when the torque converter is locked...
    Stay sfae
    Regards
    Darryl

    Darryl,
When you pull the caravan and the Prado is in 5th gear.. is it to the point it's reving too high? What I was getting at was maybe a change in differential gearing would benefit you to get you into 6th gear, but about the time you get to a slight grade the trans will probably downshift again. Economy is out the window when pulling a trailer of any type, I found this to be true with all pickups we've owned for the past 20 yrs. The Chevrolet Silverados that I've owned have more torque than our 4Runner, but when matched up to a small trailer, with a utility vehicle, we would watch the mileage tumble from 20+mpg to around 10 or 11mpg. I think the differential gear change would have helped some. Jeff here.

The magnuson tunes are pretty fat. For safety sake. I am sure custom tuning would be able to squeeze out more dependable power. I am not seeing on the Dino chart above what the afr is.

Speaking only from experience in the LS world, but I’m sure very conservative tune from Maggie

I've been under the impression that Magnuson SC tunes are very conservative as well.

Here's the dynograph for our 3GTacoma 90mm pulley tune that we recently released:

I am just looking forward to the SC release for the 2021. THEN we can start working with tuners to get a bit more out of it...

Does this one make less power than the previous models?

    Does it?
All I know about the kit is what Magnuson's promo vid on Instagram showed, announcing that the kit is available. Might have missed something, who knows.
