Has anyone had a ticking sound coming from the headrest/top of the window area? Its driving me insane, my dealer said he couldn't replicate the sound despite having a recording. It almost sounds like a loose cord or maybe the windshield flexing.

    OMFG YES!!

I've had this sound for the past month or so. For me it seems to be air speed related. The faster I go on the freeway, the more the "thing" making the noise clicks around. I managed to catch it on my phone via video while I was parked on a super windy day. Will be uploading as soon as the file is done sending to my computer.

Alright here's the video. I can hear it behind the dash or the bottom of the windshield even while stopped and the vehicle off. You can really hear the noise starting at 13 seconds. Video was filmed left of the steering wheel about an inch from the dash.

Yeah. It appears as though its nothing new to the 5th gen. Looking at that thread it started a good while ago and continues today. Considering I have less than 1000 miles on mine I'm going to provide the links to my dealer and tell him to fix it.

The upper windshield noise may be the alignment pins they use from the factory when originally installing the windshied. There is a TSB for dropping the front of the headliner and having the tech snip the ends of the pins that are making the squeak. There is apparently a pin above each visor...

I found an old TSB but does anyone have a current TSB?

I heard something like that on a road trip the other day. It almost sounded like spark knock my old Bronco used to get. I've already got a squeak on the passenger side. Not sure what this is on the drivers.

I've had what I thought was a rock popping the windshield a few times until I realized it was the creaking pop from the top area of the windsheild.

Took it in today to my dealership. Of course they couldn't replicate the sound. I truly feel it is temperature dependent. Its been in the mid 70's during the day here so by the time I pick it up and the temperature drops to the mid 60's I started to hear it again. Although it wasn't constant like it was last night. I handed them the old TSB and they looked at it to made sure all the pieces in the TSB were tight and installed correctly. I don't think they trimmed any pieces as they suggested in the bulletin. They did however start a case number with Toyota. Next step is when it begins again I'll have to a have a service manager ride with me to hear the noise. Problem is we haven't had much of a winter at all here and I'll be lucky (or unlucky depending on the way you look at it) to have the ticking start again with cool temperatures around. Not that its much of a problem with 1000 miles; I have plenty of years and miles of warranty to go. I just might have to wait for fall to take the manager on a ride for them to hear and for Toyota's engineers to fix the damn thing.

I have to go to the dealership to get a new tire installed (They're the only place I trust to not scratch the wheels). I'll report back with what they say about the clicking. Hopefully they don't give me as hard a time as your dealership did.

I wouldn't say my dealership gave me a hard time but they're definitely sticklers to the procedure book and won't go above and beyond to fix the issue I feel like. Let me know what they say...

Installed Rago brackets and 4" cube ditch lights. Weather tech mats. Cargo net. Cargo mat. Ordered Gobi rack with ladder.

That is odd. Sunday night I noticed this coming from the right rear of the vehicle. Turned the radio up and went on. Don't want those monkeys at the dealer taking the rig apart but it sure makes me second guess what the heck it is.

I've noticed these noises all over my truck. There's a thread over on FJC forums (iirc) that has a bunch of fixes for the rattles/and squeaks the guys' truck made. I'll look for that.

    edit: here you go

I have a rattle in mine but it's not from the front. Mine seems to be coming from the drivers door. Almost like something going on with the track on the window. I told the dealership about mine and like every one else they couldn't make it make the noise.

ME TOO!!!!. It's almost like a knocking. It only does it at freeway speeds and sounds like the windshield wipers are being lifted and knocking against the windshield. I had a buddy reach his arm out while driving and hold down the passenger side wiper but the sound still was there, so that's not it....
