I’m thinking of adding an ARB air locker to my rear diff. My question is, would it even be worth doing? I have an 06 with 190k miles. I know it has its issues with rust but I’ve been replacing parts as I go that r too rusted to be of good use. But with the age and the miles have any of you added a locker to your rig? Or would you?

"Worth it" is something only you can answer. If you want it and/or need it & can justify the time & $$ to make it happen, then yes it's worth it. If you want it just to say you have it, then no it may not be worth it. If you don't plan on keeping it long, then no it probably wouldn't be worth it.

In the end it's really up to you.

Thanks that actually makes feel better. I don’t plan on getting rid of my 4runner unless I have no choice. My kids are already asking me who I’m going to pass it down to and they’re only 6 and 5 lol. It’s definitely more of a want than a need but at the same time I don’t want to be in a position where I need it and I don’t have it.

thanks again for ur reply! :fistbump:

Agree with the ToyoTaco25. Wonder what is your decision about ARB air locker?

I decided on the ARB locker because all the reading and all the videos basically say the same thing, electronic lockers usually require you to be at a stop or going slow to engage. Most people even have trouble getting it to engage right when they need it. With the air locker as long as there is no wheel spin you can engage it at any speed and it’s a definite on/off. Sure it’s a little more maintenance to keep the air locker working but the certainty of it engaging and disengaging is worth the extra care.

I like the idea of a Torsen locker like an Eaton Truetrac, but they don't make those for your application.

I decided to go with premier west gear in riverside for the parts and the work. Appointment is set and deposit is given, now it’s just a matter of playing the waiting game till my appointment.
