If there was anytime to release the new version it would be this year. I don’t get the mindset on the 40th to keep it the old platform. But whatever it is what it is.

The reason I went with The G-35-6MT back in 2007 was the aero and suspension package with the right kind of wheels and tires. Well, tires not so much. The Bridgestone REO50s were crap, however with Sunitomos that car was alive and solid up to 150 mph where I would chicken out.

A G35 or G37 would be pretty tempting to me, as well! I hope to get something sporty in a few years.

Yep. Not a single spy shot released. No spotting of test vehicles in the Sierras, Death Valley, or Colorado. 2023 wasn't in the cards.

The 4Runner is made 100% in Japan. I doubt you'll see any testing in the states.

Perhaps if it is being built in Mexico they are testing it down there and nobody is seeing it here in the press?

Lots of manufacturers from Europe and Asia send vehicles to the States for testing. Usually California or Colorado. See them all the time in Death Valley.

Foreign manu...Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, and I think Nissan or Mazda, I can't recall.

Most recent trip to Death Valley last year, we saw two Hyundai cars being tested. Covered in the usual camouflage. They were traveling with 3 regular cars, which is not unusual. If you look inside the other cars they travel with, you can see mounted laptops and stuff probably tracking data from the test vehicles.

Death Valley is an extremely popular testing ground for manufacturers. It's desolate, the paved roads are very smooth. Lots of different grades of dirt roads from easy going dirt road to rough and tumble full on offroad beat down. And of course, extreme heat conditions. They also test in the Sierras, sometimes around Lake Tahoe area, other times in Central California at some hard core offroad trails, and some other spots down south.

Google image "death valley spy shots" or "spy shots cars testing california" and you'll see bunch of diff vehicles.

If in Death Valley visit the Sourdough Saloon in Beatty, many of the folks testing in the valley go there. The back room has walls filled with souvenirs of major car manufacturers. Also the beer is really cold.

Toyota has a test track in Arizona. They pretty much test all US-market cars there.

I’m losing my mind trying to find a new GR86 or BRZ anywhere. I started looking for Miatas as an alternative (pros and cons there) and those ain’t easy to find either. Also on a list for the new Z at local dealer, but I don’t want to spend 50k so would have to be a Sport. Ugh. So few real sports cars left. Especially in the affordable category.

You cannot do high altitude or desert testing in Japan so of course they will test them here in the US. I was in Colorado a few years back and saw a caravan of camo Hyundai's at the parking lot of Mt Evans at 14,000 feet or so. Couldn't tell what cars they were but the participants were looking at their data on the laptops they had in each car.

I just have to say that I am so glad I bought a 5th gen. I plan to ride this thing until it dies. The 6th gen has some big tires to fill!

Agreed! I felt the same way about my 5th gen. I previously had a 4th gen ('03, V8) for 12 years and many trouble free miles.

I actually traded that one in on a Tacoma. It kind of seemed like a mistake, but a lot of cool things came from having the Tacoma.

Anywho, I'm about to hit 80k with my 2019, and it's starting to grow on me the way the 4th gen did.:)

2023 sequoia pricing compared to 2022 pricing. Safe to assume the 6th gen 4R will have a considerable jump too. A used land cruiser seems more appealing.

I do like the new look of the sequoia, but not the tv for the infotainment and not a TTV6 hybrid only engine option.

Have to love ridiculously high inflation rates whoot whoot!

I am so blessed I got my 4R when I did. I am sure the 4R prices will be indexed close to those percentages.

Have to love this new economy simply put forces on supply out of the ordinary and hence make pricing everything out of control.

I'm still smiling about having gotten a new 2020 4R at 9% off msrp. That was two years ago this month. Whew.

I was pretty happy to get ~$4K off my '19! Especially since they also gave me a few thousand over KBB for my trade. It's the best deal I ever got on a vehicle.

Yeah I got a 1 year anniversary message from my dealer yesterday (I was fortunate to get 4k off MSRP on my ORP). I remember thinking at the time I was lucky as the chip shortages were really taking off.

Yep sometimes mine is minimal sometimes it’s very violent now. And there is officially nothing the dealer or engineer rep can or will do about it. Debating trying another 2022 or 2023 if I can test drive for a day and eating the 2 grand loss.
