I just purchased a 2000 4Runner SR5, 4x4, manual, 201k miles. This is my first 4Runner and I freaking love it! Other than an oil change, is there anything else I should be doing. She runs good and there is a sticker stating timing belt was changed at 185k miles in 2016. Cheers!

A basic tune-up and fluids can't hurt. Plugs, diffs, transfer case, maybe even transmission oil change. Grease any fittings underneath... There's all kinds of fun things you can do! ;)

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
Speaking of changing fluids, it's a good idea to bleed the brakes on a regular basis. Especially if the fluid is discolored. Any color other than the pale amber that comes out of a new bottle is discolored.
Check the thickness of the pads and shoes, and ensure the hydraulics function smoothly, once each brake is bled out. That is bled until new fluid comes out. Don't let the fluid in the MC get low!

Pull the diff breathers, and make certain they can. Breathe, that is. They must be clear, or you will get axle seal leaks, which can lead to poorly functioning brakes, of all things.

When they replaced the timing belt, did they drain and flush the coolant? If not, you may consider doing that. It's preferable to use the Toyota Red coolant, in a 50/50 mix with some distilled water.

Once you get all done with the other fun, take it out to a non-paved road/area someplace, put it in 4Hi, and drive around for a bit in 4WD. Makes sure everything engages, and the new fluid you just put in is thoroughly circulated. It's a good idea to do this about once a month, or there-abouts.

Have fun! These trucks are amazingly reliable, especially if the maintenance is kept up. The FSM has a section on recommended maintenance, and there is even and separate book out there on the net that has all the maintenance, what interval, what to do, etc. I can't remember where I found it, but the file name is 1999 Toyota SMG.PDF. Really handy little handbook. Just Google it, or whatever.

Welcome! Enjoy your truck, and your time here.

Thanks guys! Other than the timing belt in 2016, the only things that I know were done in the last 2 years are new battery and radiator. Guess it’s time to get my hands dirty.

Buying anything used. First thing I do is change every fluid in it. And get an oil analysis to see what’s goin on in the guts of that thing.
