    Hey everyone!

I'm new to this forum, but I have been reading through countless threads for the last 18 months trying to figure out how I want to build my 2018 4Runner. One of the first things I purchased was a set of sliders and skids from P&P engineering back on May 1 of this year. They said they have a 4-6 week lead time. They didn't get shipped out until July 30th, 13 weeks later. When they arrived, they looked great, however no hardware was shipped. I contacted them and they assured me it was packed in the shipment, but they would still send me the hardware (the way it was packed, there is no way it was lost in shipment). He said he would put it at the top of his priority list (sarcasm for sure). That was August 7th. I have had no luck getting into contact with them since. I have sent emails 9/9, 9/16, & 9/18 with no response at all. At this point, I'm just going to go buy my own hardware and mount what I can. Apparently I also need some brackets for some of the skids, not sure what I'm going to do for that.

I just want everyone to know about my experience working with this company. I know they talk about being a small company (2.5 people) but their customer service needs a serious upgrade.

Does anyone know what size bolts are typically required to mount sliders to our vehicle? I would like to get them mounted ASAP.

    Cory

If you want answers e-mail is not the way to go.

Phone call if you can't go in person. Not backing them up but e-mail is at the bottom of the list when I get no response.

Nice find on the BBB. I’ll try that number Monday.

Posting it here may help a little with people not purchasing from them but the best way to get their attention is post a bad review on google. I had a probelm with a car shipping company and contacted the better business bureau in the area and they fought me acting like I did something wrong and i got no results. Apparently, they didn't care because very few people see better business complaints unless they search their website. I then posted a reveiw on Google about my experience not expecting anything. Amost immediately they comtacted me wanting to resolve the issue saying it was a bad employee who was disciplined. They agreed to a partial refund if I removed the review which I did after I received the funds. A company having bad reviews on google and other social media sites will kill sales and is the last thing a business wants. Good luck and make them do the right thing, you shouldn't have to buy something that they were suppose to supply.

Also a great idea. I’m going to call them on Monday and see what happens. If that goes no where, then I’ll post to google. Thanks!

I forgot to call on Monday, I called later in the afternoon yesterday and once today. Goes to voicemail. Sounds like it's the number for the powder coating business. I'm not sure if they share the same number or what. I'm going to keep calling throughout the day and see what happens. I've started to put reviews out on both facebook and google. I found some more negative reviews on a Xterra forum, I posted there as well.

I really just want to get them mounted. I keep taking the 4Runner out to the desert and I'm going to be so pissed if I end up hitting something underneath and damaging it when I've already spent all this money to prevent said damage.

    Thanks for your help here!

I finally got someone to pick up on that phone line and apparently they moved locations a while back. She did not have any other information for me.

....and I just noticed that they somehow got my review taken down from facebook. So I posted it again.

I know firsthand that the only reason I got the Hardware kit for my Tundra P&P sliders was because they were taped to 2x4 of the $hityest crate I’ve ever seen !!
It was falling apart and sliders weren’t even bolted to it !!
Powder coat was scuffed and scratched from crate screws !!

My only contact was thru group buy on Tundras.com

Good luck with your issue !!

Hardware finally came about 2 weeks ago and I was able to bolt everything on over this past weekend. No directions but using pictures posted by someone else, I was able to figure it out through trial and error. I had to go buy some longer bolts for the area where I had to bolt 2 of the skid plates together plus going into the factory cross member. I'm really happy with the product, I really wish he had better customer service, I want to purchase the low profile front bumper from him, but I don't want to go through this ordeal again.

    Thanks for the help here.

I'm almost 3 years in with these skids and sliders. So far they have been abused slightly and they have done very well. They are starting to rust in places, the paint job was definitely subpar but some of the rust is from me scraping off of rocks, so they need to be painted anyways.

Question for you all: Should I just take them off and scotch brit them and paint them or should I take them down and get them sand blasted and powder coated? I'm leaning towards the paint but just curious if anyone has had good experience with powder coating skids and sliders and how they hold up.

    Thanks!

Are they painted now or powder coated?

If you use them as skids, paint always makes touch-ups easier.

Yea, that's where I'm leaning. I just really don't want to prep them....

It's do the prep work, or pay a powder coat shop to do it. I don't think you'd need to do much prep for paint touch-ups down the road.

I bought a set of bare steel bumpers for a Jeep I had some years ago, and went through all the paint prep work. It wasn't all that bad, you just have to set a day aside.

Yea, setting the day aside is my problem right now. I'm rebuilding our truck camper right now and need to get the boat ready for the summer season, painting skids is exceptionally low on my list right now. I was sort of hoping someone would say "powder coat is the only way" so I could justify the expense. Paint it is....unless someone with bottomless pockets chimes in.

I got a powder coat quote when I was doing those Jeep bumpers...I'm too old and too cheap, it made my hair stand up...
