Hi! I'm new here and hoping I can find some answers. I took my 2020 Limited 4Runner to be lifted today & the shop advised me that I couldn't do a 3" Inch lift due to my X-REAS Hydraulic suspension. I've called our other shop in town & they advised me that a 2" lift is all I could do without changing the X-REAS.

Of course I called the dealership and they told me that if I messed with my suspension that it would void the warranty! Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can obtain a 2 1/2- 3 inch lift? I already have my 33's ready! I've done so much research today & now I'm just confusing myself. TIA

Hi there and welcome to the group! So here’s the thing, when I bought my brand new 2021 4 Runner limited and called around asking about lifting it, I was told the same thing and that in order to do 3” lift i would have to remove XREAS and replace the coils and shocks. The fact is not alot of shops have dealt with XREAS and are just going off the top of their head. So, here are the facts, I have a 2021 4 Runner limited with a 3” lift and did not remove my XREAS shocks. I have always done my own lifts on the last 3 4 runners I owned and did this one myslef as well. It was very simple and inexpensive. I went with a 3/1 level lift from Torque Engineering. My ride is perfectly level and my warranty is still factory and covered, I confirmed with my Toyota dealership. So, for 3 hours of time and $300 bucks, I got it done. I also put 33” BFG all terrains on as well. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. I went through the same thing you are a year ago and didn’t have anyone or thing to go off. You do ;)

Thanks so much for the info! Have you had any issues with the adaptive cruise control or any of the sensors since the 3/1 lift? I hear that can be a problem.

    Thanks again!

None what so ever. Drives exactly the same with just a little more stiffness of the suspension. All the sensors and electronics work like the day I bought it. Lift has been in for about 5 months now too.

@4runner20 Just mindful when doing any sort of spacer lift. It tends to add more stress to the ball joints and can lead to premature wear a lot faster. Not sure if his was caused due to his spacer lift but just an FYI is all. Of course considering all factors such weather/snow also plays a role as well.

So, do any of you have the REVTEK 3/2 spacers on with factory 20 in LIMITED wheels or a few sizes up with 275/60/20? Ive got Les Schwab doing a Revtek 3/2 spacer lift in mid-May so will post pics after.

4Runner007….shout out. After two attempts I was able to install my 2” Lift…I was moving forward keeping my X-REAS until a leak was discovered (42k) and had to rethink my goal. I finally removed the suspension and went with a good set of socks and lift kit. Your post was my motivation and I couldn’t be happier.
Your new mods have upped the game.

Yes. I already had the tires but didn’t like the stance so the 2” made a huge difference. No change with ride or handling.

I’m getting ready for a REVTEK 3/2 lift on Friday, however, if I’m going up to 275/60/20 or down to a 275 or 285/60/18, was kind of wondering what wheel gap would look like if I stayed with the stock 20x7 rims

Took off my rocker panels to remove the trim to vinyl wrap black and oh man, these things look way bigger when their lifted with the rockers removed. I blacked out the 2 front trim pieces, the 2 rocker trim pieces, and back bumper trim piece and they came out perfect and look factory. But now that I’ve seen it without the rockers, I’m ordering the trail rocker trim and going that route.

What type of vinyl did you use and do you have any tips on the install.

I did a lot of research and talked to a couple vinyl wrapping shops and everyone said Avery is the best quality vinyl on the market so I ordered from them. It’s slightly thicker, more Pliable and last 2-3 years longer. As far as tips, I would buy a vinyl tool kit on Amazon, replace the Blade on your exacto knife often, , take your time, and but more vinyl than you need. The good thing about vinyl is if you mess up you just take it off and start over.

I didn’t use any sort of template. I just relived the caps and rails, then cut a piece of vinyl that was about 2-3 inches over on each side. I wrapped it, cut off the access, then took a heat gun and pushed in the edges.

Mike, that things sits awesome! I have a 2023 black limited 4wd coming in like 2-3 weeks from now. Do you suspect your build will work on the 23? I am new to the 4runner game, but I want to start it off right.

It will work exactly the same, the suspension is identical. Let me know if you have any questions.

Those are 275 60 r20’s so 33” tires. I can fit the 285’s now since i raised it more so once these wear out i’ll go 285.

Okay perfect. I'm going to stick with the stock wheels as well. I like the look a lot. I'm pretty excited about it. I saw you posted your number I may reach out before I make any purchases. My name is Steven. I appreciate the help!

Since I was told XREAS shocks are short for a lift i'd like to see a pic like this to see how XREAS flex with a lift? I bet a flex pic with XREAS would help many for their lift decision. This is just Ironman shocks, not fancy extended travel shocks. If XREAS has acceptable flex like this, keeping XREAS is definitely well worth for the ride comfort.
