Land cruiser 70 in UAE for $38,000 brand spanking

How many of these do you think Toyota would sell in US and Canada brand new for $38,000? Id probably buy two. This is what a Toyota SUV should be.

I hate that all the luxury, emissions, effeciency and safety garbage is eating away at what a Toyota 4x4 should be... the highest dependability and capability that regular guys can afford

 

That is a passenger side grab handle.

 

Man Toyota is good at hiding those missing driver side grab handles on the a pillar in their pictures LOL

 

I would consider trading the 4Runner for one.

But, I want mine with some luxury. Power windows, pleather, etc. I'm not going to act like I don't appreciate the comfort of the 4Runner.

Drive one into the ground then take the other out of storage and drive that into the ground.

Very capable vehicle, but it is extremely primitive. And the arm rests are either misplaced or nonexistent. Perfect for wheeling nearby but terrible for long road trips. Your body will betray you later with salonpas and advil lol.

I will say this, they are absolutely LEGEND on the trails.

 

They also hid the steering wheel as well. At least those silly kids moved it to the wrong side.

 

That shouldn’t be a problem unless you go to a drive-through by yourself or have to use a parking garage… Depending on where you live it wouldn’t be TOO inconvenient.

The scariest thing about driving right hand drive in the US is passing on a one lane road, but that thing is so damn slow it wouldn’t be an issue.

 

Does it have power lift gate ---LOL

Yeah I'd buy one in a minute--love the simplicity.

 

Everything on the workmates is manual. The GXL has power windows.

I think you have to buy the GXL to get triple lockers.

*Unless you buy the double cab workmate Ute.

 

I've been wanting to learn this kind of stuff about Land cruisers guess I need to see if there's any good books out there about new and old ones. I'm not sure what triple lockers are but it sounds like something I need LOL

 

What would be the cheapest way to get something new like this to Florida and how much does it cost out the door with shipping and paperwork if it's even possible

That 89 has a 4 high button on the dash and a 4x4 stick on the floorboard. I'd be interested in understanding what that's all about

 

I guess it could be 4 high on the fly and then 4 low from neutral

Another way of doing it is you can graft a Saudi Arabian ute/pick up 70 series body onto a relatively decent 80 series, it will set you back $80,000 but it actually rides better than a factory 70.

The best powertrain for this is the 4.5L V8 turbo diesel. I've heard the newer ones have DEF tank. In my childhood there were no BS DEF. Just pump diesel and that's it. This LC70 is the reason I have no respect for Land cruiser 100/200s especially the 5.7v8 with tiny 24gal tank. In Asia there is LC105 with solid axles with luxury.

 

Apparently 70's are sold out for the next few years. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
