I was replacing the front sway bar bushings this weekend and broke the head off one of the bolts. Went to Toyota and ordered the new one but has anyone had any luck getting a broken bolt out of the frame. It’s a clean break - pretty even with the surface.

Do you have a welder? Can you drill a hole in it and try an easy out? Also may can cut a slot in the shank and use a screw driver. A torch may help as heat will be your friend.

I don’t have a welder but just bought an easy out so will be trying that out. I wish I had a welder because that would make this a easy job.

A torch may help. Heat it as hot as you can.

There's a couple ways to remove and broken bolt.... first spray it with wd40(a couple times). Center punch the bolt(as close to center as possible), smack it a couple times, uses heat(propane torch), weld a nut to the broken bolt, what kind of tools ya got?

Edit only read the first post, sounds like ya know what you gotta do

You can try center punching it in a rotation.. try that with some heat, then try the easy outs, they are nice IF they work. if not you got a even bigger mess

I'd be careful whacking it you can jack up the threads. Left handed drill but may be helpful. I've used them to extract broken bolts. I'd let it soak in some sort of lubricant and start with an easy out.

I had a broken bolt where the head broke off flush where the rear bumper attaches, just beneath the lift gate on my 5th gen. I bought a set of left-handed drill bits and that did the trick. Sprayed some PB Blaster prior to going to work on it.

I got it out. Sprayed it down with some lubricant and started drilling on it and it started turning- got it to where I could get my fingers on it and backed her out.
    Thanks all.
