Power liftgate

I have been looking into getting a power liftgate for my 2017 4 Runner, and sent any email a couple of weeks ago, to Hansshow asking a number of questions, are there detailed installation instructions, does the stock fob work, is the control box in the lift hatch, etc., but to date no response. Not going to spend $500-$600 unless I get my questions answered.

Yes it comes with installation instructions. Stock fob should work on the 2017 no issue. Control box is in the liftgate between the speakers although you can install near your car jack.

 

Vera just replied and said they did indeed have an issue with email a few weeks ago. She sais she will get right back to you if you email again. Honestly I use whatsapp and she responds immediately

Well, I got lucky (I guess). My 2018 Limited (bought 08/21) came with a power liftgate. I have no idea what brand it is but the installation seems to work well...mostly. A couple of things: it seems a little inconsistent about remote open. Sometimes I can hit the dash button and it will open completely, others it just releases the latch but doesn't raise enough to open so (usually) winds up shutting again. I have yet to have the gate do more than unlatch with the fob. BUT, so far anyway, I'm glad I have it. The other thing that mine doesn't do is the 'height adjust' that the Hansshow site talks about. But like I said, don't know the brand and I'm not ready to tear it apart to find out. I would like to add the foot sensor and may even buy a full kit to replace what's there at some point. Have other projects first though.

Do you have pics or a video? I was looking at this brand and auto ease but the auto ease brand is sold out. Just don’t want to spend the money if it doesn’t work well. 2022 4runner SR5 premium

There are a few vids on youtube. The Hansshow works good, the instructions suck though.

 

I installed this on my 2021 4runner. The installation was a pain in the butt. Fishing the wires will be the most challenging part of this installation. I got everything to install, but the liftgate doesn't open up on its own. It will only open if I pull on the life gate after pressing the rear unlock button. It doesn't require much pulling, but it's annoying that it doesn't open on its own. The front button and key fob are pointless because the liftgate can't open on its own. If you press the liftgate will unlock but lock again because it can't go up. I guess the liftgate is too heavy for the motor/struts? It closes fine, though.

I've been going back and forth with Vera from Hansshow but nothing seems to be working...

 

Let us know how it works out. There is a way to make it stronger. 2 settings I believe

 

Do you know how to change the setting?

The problem is still there. They're offering to send me new struts, but I have to ship the one I have back. It's going to take weeks until I get the new one

 

Just got the 2023 Limited. Looking for a good power lift gate option. Other than Hansshow, has anyone come up with a more OEM fit? Perhaps something from a Lexus or other model or year? I wasn't impressed with all the problems I'm reading with Hansshow. They even hide their address under the terms and conditions page, not under Contact Us, About Us, or Shipping. Here's the copy and paste from their website.

I am trying to find a good liftgate kit for my moms 2015 limited. She has a very hard time closing the gate now and is over 70. So far all I see is Autoease and Hansshow kits. The Autoease system seems to get pretty crappy reviews. Does anyone know of another manufacturer or brand that seems to be better or is the Hansshow doing ok when installed.
