A friend of mine recently became the newest, and very proud owner of a 94' 4Runner.

He came to me yesterday with some concerns about the clutch not disengaging completely when stopped, even though the pedal is in the floor. He's also mentioned difficulty in locating gears and terrible grinding noises at times.

He's already replaced the master cylinder and claims to have properly bled the system. After reading through previous threads, It sounds like we'll most likely find a flaw in the clutch bracket as the culprit here.

I'll be sure to post an update with some photos once I get a chance to troubleshoot further. Tinkering with this is how I'll be spending my lovely May Day. If anyone has any suggestions and/or questions, please feel free to write a comment. Thank you.

    Trans from a 87 Pickup
I had the exact issue with my 91. Had to start in gear and could rev-match but could not put into gear at a stop. Ended up keeping the clutch but getting a junkyard trans from an 87 pickup 22RE which bolted on fine. I know the trans is supposed to be better (probably the only thing) on a 3.0 but this beauty shifts like a dream and is my daily at 310,000 harsh Alaskan miles I’d rec pulling the whole trans man.
