    FNG in Hburg. Any good tire and alignment shops around? I'm surprised that MS has so few members, can drive 2 minutes without passing ten 4runners.

    Amazing how the times have changed. I drove through MS and LA in my brand new 2005 Tacoma in 2005 and saw maybe one or two other Toyota’s. Everything was domestic at that time.

    A fellow Mississippian here. I also can’t believe there aren’t more MS members on this forum with all of the 4runners I see around town. Glad I joined and can add to the count. If you live around Jackson and see a girl in a white TRD ORP (with some minor mods) wave at you in your T4R.... that would be me :D

    Sadly the off road parks in the southern half of the state are limited to ATVs. There used to be 2 4x4 trails here on the coast, but drunkened redneck Jeepers caused too many liability issues. So if you wanna trailer a SxS or ATV to a campground theres a few, but its a no go locally for the 4Runner. There are a couple National Forests with service roads near you. De Soto National Forest is less than 30 min from ya. Though many service roads are locked at various times for controlled burns or to prevent damage to wetlands and wildlife migrations. You'll just have to call or see for yourself whats open. Bienville NF has a good bit of open service roads. Thats about 2.5 hours north of Gautier. Your best bet for any kind of technical trail riding in Southern MS is to befriend people with hunting camps. Really thats the only option I know. There is a piece of the Trans America Trail in the very most northern part of the state and 1 or 2 off road parks up there as well. No experience with them though.

    Hello, MS 4R owners! I am in the Jackson, MS metro area and looking for a quality shop for 4Runner modifications. I have a new TRD ORP ordered and wanting the following initial mods: 285 (33”) Nitto Ridge Grapplers or BFG KO2 tires on black TRD 17” OEM wheels to replace the stock 265 Nitto Terra Grapplers; Westin, Victory or Warn front bumper/winch combo; low profile roof cargo rack and maybe some rock sliders. Any recommendations on shops in MS? I have talked to Rick’s Pro Truck, but they may not deal in some of the brands I want. Thanks!

    @Behold28

    Most 4x4 shops local to you will specialize in domestic trucks, and even then mostly for muddin' or mallin'. There are several that will install special order or brought in parts, for the right price. Phone calls should answer that. Question would be, do you trust them to do it? Lucky for you Baton Rouge is a short drive down I-55. Check out Southern Style Offroad. They'd be a one stop shop for most all your needs and fabricate quality, in-house 4Runner specific parts. That'd be my recommendation. Not sure about them sourcing tires though. Otherwise find a local, general mechanic shop. Lots of independent shops will do custom work. Talk to a few lifted Tacoma owners(tons up there) where they get work done. Could be worth it to find a mechanic you trust. Admittedly a difficult proposition. Good Luck!

    Update on my above-mentioned efforts to find a Mississippi shop experienced in 4R suspension/lift upgrades: One member recommended that I reach out to Southern Style Offroad (SSO) in Baton Rouge, LA which is only 3 hours away from me. That was a great recommendation, and I did reach out to SSO after researching them a good bit. 4Runners and Tacomas appear to be their speciality. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to get SSO to respond. I did reach a receptionist/clerk who promised a call-back from a tech. After not getting a call-back for several days, I emailed the company, and their office manager responded that day saying someone would call me the next day. A week went by with no call-back.

    I gather that these companies with a lot of 4Runner knowledge/experience get a ton of calls from people seeking free advice on modifications, and then, after getting the great advice, the caller just goes to another shop to get the work done. I have seen 88 Rotors in CA complain about this on some of their YouTube suspension install videos. Anyway, after talking to numerous people in my area with Toyota trucks/suvs, I found a shop in Richland, MS (49 Tire & Auto - Tire Pros) that has a lot of experience with Toyotas including Landcruisers, 4runners, Lexus GX, etc. The owner was very responsive and had no problem giving me his recommendations without any promise of me using his shop (I did go meet with him in person). I am following this shop's recommendations and the parts have already been ordered. I am going with a Bilstein 6112/5100 suspension/lift kit with new SPC UCAs and Bilstein B12 rear springs. After the work is done, I will put the photos on here and give my final thoughts.

    4R TRD ORP '23 Post Lift.jpg

    Including info and photos for any MS 4R owners wanting a shop with experience with Toyota suspension systems.

    2023 TRD ORP upgrades

    Shop/Installer: 49 Tire & Auto in Richland, MS (Owner - Chris Tolleson; Installer/Tech - Rob)

    Suspension Upgrades: Billstein 6112/5100 setup with B12 rear Springs (standard load); SPC UCAs

    Tire Upgrade: 285/70r17 BFG KO2s

    Achieved essentially 2.6" lift in front with 6112s set at #8/#6 and 1.4" lift in rear with the B12 Springs.

    I have exactly 1" of forward rake after this install.

    Only minor rubbing on front mudflaps so removed those.

    Drives great.

    Hey, wanted to reach out in this thread and see if someone can recommend a shop to uninstall the TRD roof rack (which looks to cause folks some issues.), install Sherpa Roof Rack with BAJA designs light bar, and install SPOD touchscreen?
