They should be able to epoxy that, I think.

Had a near similar one, epoxyed out pretty easily. Can only see a slight blemish if you look hard. Been fine since.

I think it depends more on what state you live in. I think in MN they're required to have $0 deductible for glass. When I lived in Nebraska my agent said they're not allowed to.

    I’d fill that in.

    Just pay cash.

Shouldn’t cost more than 100 bucks.

yup, that can just be fixed.

My insurance covers my windshield replacement with a $100 deductible. Worth it. I drive a lot and behind trucks most of the time.

The wife went through two windshields on her car in a year. I’ve been lucky. I had only one chip very similar to the one quoted above on my Tacoma.

Have a similar chip in my 2020 4Runner windshield. Called Safeco to repair and because it is on the edge of the camera view, they said it was not repairable and immediately set up an appointment to replace. I told them I would have it replaced when it cracked. Went out the next day and applied a heavy coat of clear nail polish and that was in September. With all the cold, snow and ice in Western NY so far this winter I am still waiting.

Agree with Post #35. Try this first. The fill in could last for years. If it does turn into a crack, you can still make a claim then.

Insurance companies in Florida are mandated to replace windshields or, if repairable, they pay the cost of the repair. Over 20 years as a resident and have never yet had a need to replace a windshield - maybe I just need to get out more....

Follow-up- Scheduled with Safelite over the internet, you pick day and time slot. They filled with some compound, suction, heat and crack is pretty much gone. From the outside you can't tell where it was, on the inside if you know where to look you can see. Total time in the shop was 30min max. Safelite has it down to an assembly line science. Reminded me of Chickfila in a way. No deductible, nothing out of pocket. State Farm took care of everything on the claim side. I believe it's that way for all of SC. Not sure. Would post picture but there is nothing to see.
Their commercials become an ear worm too after a while.

Thank you rocks of Arizona! Cracked my 3RD windshield today!!!! My truck is a 2020, that I bought in February of that year. Before I call my insurance and put in a claim for my 4TH WINDSHIELD in 2 years, are there any options to the incredibly crappy OEM glass? I LOVE my truck, but this is CRAZY! Thanks! :frustrated::help::annoyed:

I’m tired of seeing the chick on Safelite glass TV commercial in a 4runner with the emblems blacked out getting aftermarket glass …LOL

No one seems to have commented on OP's post. His situation is almost identical to mine. 2021 Venture, 7000 miles, popping sound while driving and later discovered a vertical crack starting from the roof line down about 7 inches in a straight line about centered in front of the passenger seat. No chip or rock impact spot. Stress fracture was my first thought. What do you think? Will Toyota entertain replacing it under warranty? OP didn't have any luck with that. 9500 miles now on the car. Insurance has a $300 deductible and the company will send me to Safelite, so I've passed on that for now. Can Safelite be relied upon to reprogram Safety Sense or will I need to go to a dealer?

Read the online reviews (Yelp, Google, etc.) for your local Safelight. See if they have a good crew of installers.

I get a ton of cracking/popping sounds from my dash/windshield area. I just figured its plastic pieces flexing from a change in temperature as the vehicle warms up. Never noticed that on any other vehicle before. Hasn't seemed to result in any damage so far. Curious to see if this happens year round or only in the colder months.

Are you 100% certain that the deductible is the same for both Collision AND Comprehensive? Most Comprehensive insurance riders have a much lower deductible - some even $0 - compared with collision. Windshield damage falls under comprehensive coverage.

Safelite is one of the few companies that trains their techs to provides them with the tool to re-calibrate TSS after windshield replacement.

    https://www.safelite.com/windshield-camera-recalibration

If you ARE able to get the Dealer to cover it (I'm not sure if the windshield is covered or not, if it is, it's likely VERY limited, like tires), of course they will also recalibrate it.

Picked up my first windshield chip today from what sounded like a boulder when it hit. Gonna fix it with a Rain X kit ASAP. Anybody have any experience with that ? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I used a Rain-x kit to repair a chip a couple of years ago. Pretty straightforward and not difficult. It has held up well.
