Long time mechanic, and have restored many 4runners and pickups for others, but finally got around to building one for myself. I had a friend and customer who is into Toyota vehicles offer the 88 4runner to me many years ago.. it came out of Texas, and was abandoned and partially stripped of a few parts. My friend had disassembled it further, ( ie removed the engine, and front body parts.) It appears the last owner was a high school student, and have found that much care was taken of it during that time. The 15 yrs since have not been kind, and a lot of age and damage has happened. With the hood off the sun, rodents, and time did a number on things. I have endeavored to restore and lightly modify the rig for purpose of not only daily driving, but overlanding adventures to camp and fish.
