Burned a tank of gas yesterday, headed nowhere in particular with a playlist of Townes Van Zant, Guy Clark and Terry Allen. Back roads, no hurry, no plan. Perfect.

One of my personal favourites.... It's funny that "music videos" in the 80's and 90's featured the artist singing, making bodily gesticulations to emphasise the song verses... We've come a long way!

I might have posted this one before, but it's a great song. Makes me think of how F'd up this world is now compared to when I was younger. And I don't like it.

Yeah. He didn't seem to be a heavy drug user or anything. I'm very curious what happened.

I don't know if it's a true, verified, headline, but I saw a headline that said he had 10 different "substances" in his system. Prescription or illicit wasn't specified.

I know that if I ever got tested I'd have more than that, but they're all prescription. Maybe he has some of the same conditions I do. High blood pressure, Type II diabetes, neuropathic foot and hand pain, and so forth. If he had illicit "substances", his problem. I would feel no sympathy.

Just wanted to throw that out there.

As a weekend musician, I'm pleased to see the huge variety of musical tastes here on our forum. I grew up in the Mississippi Delta and was fed a steady diet of Gospel, Blues, and traditional Country music. Of course in my teen years, I was into all the good 70s rock out there, but over time, I've discovered a huge amount of great stuff out there. I have played in 70's tribute bands, Oldies/Blues bands, Classic Rock bands, etc... currently in a Top 40 variety band and have been kinda "forced" to learn a LOT of newer music that I never thought was worth my time to listen to in the past, and some of it is much better than I expected.

If you had told me ten years ago that today, at 59, I would be rocking on stage with a Rage Against the Machine tune, or doing a Britney Spears/Madonna/Dua Lipa medley, I would have told you that you are crazy... but it happened. I'm not in the least upset by it. It was a challenge to take on these new styles, and I've learned a lot - not just in terms of styles of playing, but in terms of better appreciation of these newer styles. Don't hem yourself in. Listen to everything, pay attention to the musicality and be amazed! :)

As for what I listen to in my "spare time", I tend to gravitate to the guys/gals that most people don't know (not super commercially successful), but amazing "musician's Musicians"... like Robben Ford...

    No Lacuna Coil?

Who is Lacuna coil you ask? Band has been around for nearly 25 years. Has one of the hottest lead singers of any female heavy metal group. Christina Scabbia at nearly 50 still has it.
