    Hi all!
1987 4Runner, SR5, 5 SPD Manual, 175,000 miles on the ODO, tires worn about 50% BFG ATA's, slight surface rust, no frame rust, engine and drive train in excellent condition, new timing chain, radiator, battery, and cv shafts/joints, Warn manual hubs, interior fair, messy and dirty, but a garbage bag will fix that.

Asking $5,000.00 OBO. Send me a PM for my phone number. Ask for Pat or Wendy.
    Pictures also available.

    Klamath Falls, Or.

Come drive this moderately well kept 1st Gen Runner home today!

    The ODO
    IMG_0334.jpg
Rattlecan paint job on the hood. Meh...
The roof is the worst rust on the body.

IMG_0354.jpg The engine. New battery, radiator, timing chain, cv shafts and joints.
IMG_0338.jpg The interior. Messy, yes, but in pretty good shape for all that. The dash doesn't have a crack in it like so many do. It's had the cover since I bought it in 99-ish.

    IMG_0350.jpg
The body's rust. Light, surface stuff. Not bad at all. No rust on the frame. Sorry, no pics of that. I can't kneel down, or sit down, and stand back up off the ground. Sorry.IMG_0335.jpg
The tires. All the same age/size, put on at the same time, rotated and balanced a couple years back. It's been sitting since, with electrical trouble. New interior/dash harness, including the fuse block. New manual Warn hubs. 4WD works good.

Gotten an offer from a guy on Yotatech already. Offered full price. Be aware.

If he offered to pay you your full asking price, why don't you sell it to him?

    Just curious ...

He's in Minnesota. Understandably, he wants a video of the engine's sound to ensure it runs as well as I say, and he wants a picture of the DOT Date code, which I had no idea existed before we talked. He wants to ensure the tires are legal to go on the highway, and if they're older than a 2015 date code he will replace the tires before departure.
Other than that, he plans to fly out, drive home. He's a long-haul trucker, and a 2000 mile trip doesn't bother him at all. He just wants to ensure the truck and it's tires will make the trip as well as he can :)

Having said all that, if someone knocks on my door and says they'll give me my asking price, I will need to give them both an opportunity to outbid each other. The man that plans to fly out get's first stab at raising his offer if I get other offers, as he gave the first response. I won't sell it out from under anyone. That's a chicken thing to do to someone, and that's not me.

    There's the long answer.

You are willing to go back on your word on selling that vehicle if someone local comes forward with a better offer? Even if the person you gave your word to has already purchased a plane ticket...then you'd turn it into an auction? You may not want to think you're a person to do a chicken thing, but that's exactly what you just said you'd do.

I suppose I'm too old school. Good luck with your sale and not pissing someone off

Is the 4runner still for sale OP? If so i have couple questions here.

    1) So you say “new” on all the above mentioned parts, but then state the vehicle has been sitting for a couple years, did you install these parts recently and not moved the vehicle or were they new a couple years ago?

    2) The tires. You state they are BFG AT’s, but clearly in the one photo, they are Spector Advanta AT’s. Which is it? They are also showing significant dry rot in your picture and are worn a fair bit past 50% as stated.

    3) If you cannot get down take photos of the frame, how can you be sure it is rust free? Does Oregon use salt on the roads in wintery months?

    4) Is that the new battery in the engine bay photo? If so, whats the manufacture date on guy?

5)Again, you stated the vehicle has not moved since “a couple years back.” How can you assure someone can drive it home?

Is the 1987 4runner still for sale? If so, I have a couple questions.

    1. Does the vehicle start up and run?
    2. Would you assume someone can drive it 1500 miles and not have a breakdown?
    3. Do you have the title to the vehicle?
    4. If you cannot get down and take photos of the frame, how can you confirm it's rust free? Doesn't Oregon use salt on your local roads?

If I offered you $5000 (full asking price), how do you accept payment?

    Looking forward to your input!

Yes, it IS still for sale.

    1) "New" Installed by my mechanic before it started sitting. Approximately 1.5 years ago.

2)The one in the photo is a replacement, after the mechanic and his employee had a argument, and he took it out on the 4Runner. The rest ARE BFG ATTA. The 50% was the pro-rata the tire shop, Discount Tire here in Klamath Falls. when I had the 4Runner towed in to replace the damaged tire. Yes, they are getting old, and more than likely need replacement by now. I'm not going to replace them. The purchaser can do that.

    3) No. They use crushed lava rock. Does nothing to melt the snow, ther than being dark in color, vyt gives really good grip. Given that this area is highly volcanic (look up Crater Lake. It's a very large, dormant volcano), and the supply of lave rock is extensive. I was able to look at the frame when the truck was up on the lift to replace the tire, and when we checked the oil in the transmission and pumpkins just before I drove it home from the mechanics shop last week. It ran beautifully. The normal amount of power and acceleration as it had when I bought it back in 95.

    4) I'll have to go look and get back on the MFR date. It's an Interstate. My time is mostly caring for my wife, who recently got out of the hospital. Case of pancreatitis. Nasty stuff.

    5) See #3 above.

Does that answer the questions you had?
    Pat☺

Edit: I must apologize most humbly. You were correct on the tires. I was a generation behind what we actually had on. Again, I am sorry.I will dig the paper work out and get the date and mileage we put them on.
Please ref. the below edit for my consideration concerning the driveline.

    1) Yes, it IS still for sale, and YES, it runs like a dream. I stared it at my mechanic's shop last week, and drove it home, a 30 minute drive, roughly. New fuel in the tank for that journey.

    2) From the work my mechanic has done recently, I would believe so, yes. The brakes and clutch need to be bled out, but that's part of my maintenance schedule, not a malfunction. When the fluid starts to get dark, I bleed the systems to keep them in good shape.

    3) Yes. I've had the title free and clear since I bought it in 95. The registration is current, here in Klamath Falls.

    4) No, they use lava rock, crushed up. Doesn't do much to melt the snow, other than being a dark color, but it gives real good grip. I was able to look at the fram when my mechanic had it up on the lift to check the transmission oil, and the differential oil, before I drove it home. He's a good man, and did that just because I asked him to. The oils all looked new, even though they've been in for 4-5 years. About the most 4 Wheeling I do now a days iss when the snow is deep enough to require the use of 4WD.

Cash or check is fine. Your choice. Cashier's Check is good too. I am not a huge financier, so I don't know all the possible options available. This is the first vehicle I've ever sold on my own. Up until now, all others were trade ins at dealerships, so I don't know the options, as I say.
If you know a better way, please, feel free to offer it up.

    Pat☺

Edit: See above edit re: the tires currently on the truck. My sincerest apologies to everyone.
IMHO, also, since it hasn't been driven, other than around town for some errands, and then home, in approx. 1.5 years, the U Joints, Double Cardan, and slider joints, need lubing. If I can, I'll take care of that, BUT, We're dealing with a slight snowfall, very cold temps, and I need to care for my wife. She had a stint in the hospital with pancreatitis, and needs a lot of care now she's back home. Needless to say, she's my utmost priority. I can't swear I will get to lubing the drive lines if you should purchase it in the near future.
Should you come here to drive it away, you are more than welcome to use my grease gun to deal with the drive line. I only say this about the drive line as I prefer to lube it spring and fall, and all the joints mentioned are still factory, so I must be doing something right :)

Best I could do today to get pictures of the frame:

Passenger side looking forward, leaning on the rear tire. Foreground left is the fuel tank and it's underside shield. Frame rail right there in the middle.
    IMG_0468.jpg

Passenger side, looking rearward, leaning on the front tire. I know springs are prone to rust, but these are in pretty good shape. IMHO, could use the Zuk Mod, though. New Midas muffler, installed a couple years back.
    IMG_0474.jpg

Drivers side, looking at the suspension of the front area, leaning on the brush guard. Foreground is the shield under the engine. Lousy pic, sorry...
    IMG_0482.jpg

I know, terrible pictures, but the best I could do leaning on things, bent over and waving the camera around under the truck. You should see the ones I DIDN'T include <shudder>

I try not to drive any more than I can help in the winter. Snow and ice scare me. I can do it, and will, as needed, but I don't run around doing doughnuts or whatever :)
Usually if I do, the roads are in pretty good shape, with some snow or compacted snow in places shaded from direct sunlight during the day. Not like some places I see, especially on those towing shows on TV, that are snow end for end. Some of the traffic cams of the local mountain passes, too. Miles of it...

NO salt of any kind, though. Just crushed lava rock. A little hard on the lower area paint, but other than that...
They usually only spread it in intersections, and MAYBE 1/8 mile back from them, if the snow is bad enough. Haven't gotten any lava into the windshield yet, either! I am surprized.

At least they give some impression of the underside.

    Hi Pat,
Per our discussion on Friday afternoon, I sent a check to you for $4000 to arrive on Monday. You will have to sign for the UPS 2nd day delivery package.
Please advise when you mail the title and keys to your 1987 Toyota 4Runner to me. Also confirm you will put the plastic part missing on the drivers side bumper (or just put inside the vehicle...if easier for you).
I will advise if I receive any communication on when your 1987 Toyota 4Runner is being picked up.
    Thank-you
