Just went through an automated carwash, noticed the weather stripping under the roof rails was flopping off to the side on both sides. Is that piece supposed to be anchored somehow in that groove, either by something sticky, glue or mechanical means or does it just lay in there and the carwash jets just blew them out?

Mine was missing when I bought my 4R a few weeks ago. Besides aesthetics, does it really do anything? Or I guess my question really is, do I need to buy a new one?

I had the same exact issue with the roof strips at a carwash. Has anyone figured out, is the stripping adhesive backed or tucked into the rail groove? I appreciate any info you guys may have found.

One side of mine has been missing since I’ve owned it and I haven’t noticed any adverse affects.

    gkomo,
do you happen to know if the OE stripping is adhesive backed by any chance?
I can obviously find the part but don't know if it's adhesive.
I'm heading to my local dealer this Thursday so I'll finally find out. I don't believe it's necessary but I'd like to keep everything as original.

I don’t know, but I can tell you there aren’t any holes or mounting points inside the channel of the missing strip, so my guess would be adhesive of some sort.

Agreed. Well, each piece is $53.00 on Toyotapartsonline. I'll get more info on Thursday to pass along. I appreciate your input.
