    Hi All,

New member here from Southern Nevada. I have 2 4Runners and am looking to do some body mods on the 2014. Nothing crazy, just nerf bars, rim touch ups and blackout work on the grille and roof rack. Does anyone know of a good shop in the Las Vegas/Henderson, Nevada area?

    Thanks!

Thank you! I was using trail4R to get the details on what I wanted and where to buy it but didn't know of anywhere local that I could get the install done. Because I don't have a garage anymore I can't do it myself. I appreciate the recommendation!

If you just need some installs, I can recommend DH Customz over in Henderson. Daryl does great work for a fair price.

I've also heard good things about 4thetruck.com, but haven't used them myself.

DH Customz hands down. He did my lift when he flew back here to HI.

If you're having any work done right now, just be prepared for a "COVID surcharge." Unfortunately, they all seem to be bumping up their labor/install fees to make up for a craptacular 2020. I got quotes to install (weld on) a panhard correction bracket from most shops in town. DH came in with the least unreasonable estimate. I didn't mind helping them out a little, since they have done great work for me previously, but some of the other estimates (4 The Truck, in particular) flat out ticked me off.

    thanks for the heads-up Tuco!

I'd posted this in the tire thread, but more local insights would be most helpful as we relocated here from SW Idaho in 2109 and haven't gotten out in the boonies yet: The TRD Off-Road I'm picking up today (is it 5 yet?) comes with the stock Dunlop AT20s - not knowing the area, I don't know how important it is to get AT tires before getting out into the BLM land. Would you replace the tires right away? If so, anyone got recommendations on stores that won't hose me on the brand new stock tires?

    Thanks!

Congrats on the OR! You'll love it.

I've been going to the Discount Tire store at Blue Diamond & Valley View for years. Never had a bad experience there, but I've also never tried to sell takeoffs. I would call around to a few shops just to get a feel for your takeoffs.

We all have different opinions on this, so this is just my $0.02. I wouldn't want to do any offroading in this area with the stock SL load tires, unless you're going out with a group. Even then I wouldn't push it. The limestone and caliche here is unforgiving. I'm running slightly oversized (33") E load Toyos. They ride so nice that I don't see myself ever going back to an SL load tire. I live over in Southern Highlands (Enterprise) which is unincorporated Clark County. Clark County Public Works "maintains" the roads (badly...which is being very kind). The E loads just laugh off all the chewed-up washboard pavement I have to drive on every day. The stock SL load tires were terrible in this regard.

Thanks - we finally got to drive one yesterday and it reminded both my wife and I of the 2012 XTerra we had.

You're pretty close by - we're over in Inspirada. I'll try calling discount tire and see what they say about trade on the tires. Thanks again for the insights!

Nice! I have a couple friends over at Inspirada. The south side is a great area.

When you get your truck, take a little side trip west on Cactus, and then go north on Decatur up to Blue Diamond. Hopefully the signal at Silverado Ranch is green so you can drive through at speed. You'll see what I mean about SL tires on lousy pavement. One thing though, be sure to avoid that section of Decatur any time it rains. The runoff overtops the road and causes lots of potholes because the clowns at the County won't fix the low spots that don't drain. It's especially dangerous at night because of no overhead lighting.

I'm pretty sure we need to get a Calliope for ALL of Clark County - multiple parts of the government seem to be wearing white makeup :D

Bumping an old thread - new 4Runner owner and I've been in Vegas for about a year and a half now. I'm over by Henderson/Whitney near the Wetlands.
