Can the sensor that come on the factory 4R wheel be moved to another wheel? If they have the rubber stems, wouldn't they have to be cut to remove them?

Yes - the TPMS can are moved to other wheels. There's a screw that holds the TPMS on the wheels. It's as easy as unscrew and put on the new wheel and then screw to spec.

I’m thinking of doing that to my 22 4Runner. So you unscrew the rubber stem from the sensor?

You should be able to reuse the sensor part but the rubber stem would be most likely destroyed when removed and a new rubber stem would be needed. The metal stems are held on with a nut so it can be easily removed. I just got a set of the Autel MX metal sensors and mounted them on my wheels and had tires mounted today for my 2022 ORP. I got the sensor ID info for the sensors that came on the OEM wheels and cloned a set of the MX sensors using the Autel TPMS tool.

I kept the cloned sensors in the same location as the OEM sensors and just now tested them. The car first showed low PSI and after about a minute read all four tire pressures correctly.

So on OEM rubber stem sensors most likely it would need to be cut off? Are the OEM rubber stems most often available from the dealer?

The best thing is to call the parts department at the dealership. On the 2022, the parts guy told me there were several different sensors for some reason. If you give them your VIN they can look up which one your 4R has and get the right part for you.

The dealer has lots in stock. We ended up damaging one of the rubber valve stems during removal. My plan was to replace all of the anyways.
    Thanks for the help!

My plan is to run different wheels/ tires for winter vs rest of the year. Will I be able to switch the tpms sensors, or will I need to buy these rubber stems to fit the new wheel switch, or buy all new 4 sensors?

If you're going to have two sets of tires and wheels, you probably should get another set of sensors for the second set and just get them cloned so the car can't tell the difference between the two sets.

Thx, my tire shop is getting me 4 new sensors. $120 ea from the dealership, but $65 ea at the tire shop. Go figure!
What do you mean exactly by “having them cloned”? They are different sized wheels, because I’m using the 18” that my used 4r came with for my winter set up. Summer are 17”.
