Vehicle started shaking badly, thought I had a bad ball joint, or tie rod. Got home, jacked up the front, removed the tires and noticed the right side had a bad sticking point during rotation. Checked the upper and lower ball joints and tie rods and all were fine. Thought the problem was a caliper sticking because it does not rotate as easily as the driver side. Removed the caliper and brake pads, but the sticking was just as bad. Put new rotors, front wheel bearings, and new cv axles in it about 2 years ago. I'm afraid that the problem is coming from the transfer case. Anyone on here had this problem before? I will be taking the cv axle off tomorrow, but there is no grinding or any weird noise coming from them and they aren't loose at all. Just wondering if anyone has experienced a sticking axle like this before that wasn't from the cv axle. Could still be the wheel bearing, but I'm doubting that right now.

    Thanks for any advice! Vehicle is 2007 4Runner SR5 with 4.0 V-6.

I got updates! Pulled the hub completely loose except the top ball joint, as soon as I got the cv axle out of the hub and knuckle, the cv axle freed up. Somehow it was the cv axle binding, and as soon as i got it to straighten out the kink was gone and the sticking was not coming from the transfer case, thank the good lord above! New cv axle and new upper a arms will be installed as soon as they arrive and hopefully that never happens again!

Just wanted to say glad you got it figured and and glad you came back to give an update! Thanks for that, too many threads on here have an issue and then the OP never comes back to let future folks know the solution.

No problem, just the right thing to do! Hopefully it helps someone out in the future. I did learn a lesson though. If you put 2 inch over stock coil overs on, and do not do the diff drop spacers and sway bar spacers install, you are headed for trouble! It puts too much of an angle in the CV axle. Also, to help with handling and alignment issues, better spring for new upper A arms as well that are built for 2 to 4 inch lifts. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!
