Hey everyone, just an update to my previous post:
I have since bought the Automated Power Liftgate kit provided by Ensight and I love it! This thing has been such a convenience to my daily life. If you are interested in the kit I bought I will include a link to where I purchased. The customer service was phenomenal and they gave detailed responses that made me feel confident that if I had any problems at all they would there to help. They also included a code for 10% off of the purchase which should still work, "10ALL".
    Link to my purchase: https://www.ensightauto.com/collections/power-lift-gate/products/plg-4run

Great job. Does it work with the key fob as well or just the buttons on the lift gate? Did you get the foot sensor as well or no?
I have been eyeing this for a bit and very interested. I know in the past people were having issues with the brain being in the lift gate. Others moved it to where the jack is on the inside of the truck.
    Thanks!

Thank you! I went with the foot sensor and it is awesome! It also integrates with the factory key fob which is sweet too. I have been using it for about a month now and love this thing. I have no complaints as of yet and had no problems with where it was at but I am also not technician haha! I chose this company too because they are US based and have amazing customer service so I feel confident that if anything was to go wrong they will help no doubt. Let me know if you have any other questions or anything I might be able to help with!

Interesting and thanks for sharing. Did you install it or have one of their installers do the work (I don't see installation instructions on the website)?

I did it myself, the product comes with installation instructions with pictures that helped a lot. Heres the digital file they sent me.

Awesome, thanks for the pdf. Would be great to get your feedback after 5-6 months to see how it's holding up. Just checked the trail4runner.com site and there are some mixed reviews (but a good set of instructions to work from).

Yea I definitely saw mixed reviews for most kits, but for me having this company based in the US was a huge reason I pulled the trigger. They also throw in an 18 month warranty which I couldn't find any other company offering that at least in my search. Will update in a few months on how its functioning.

Funny - the automatic lift gate is probably the thing I miss most about my previous vehicle. It’s one of those things that you take for granted! Having kids, my hands always full, groceries, etc, it was nice to have the auto lift gate hahah. This is an interesting option… but sucks you have to spend money aftermarket when the price of the vehicle is so high to begin with. Oh well!

I watched the video and looks great. Question though. When it closes and latches, does it slam down or a smooth Lille’s? Looks like it slams down. Is this adjustable?

It is pretty smooth, but at the bottom it just moves a little quicker to make sure it closes properly. I used the code "10ALL" for a nice 10 % off my order!

    None, just starting
It's been almost 6 months, how is the kit holding up?
How long did the installation take?

This thing has been awesome! The convenience comes to mind first as the biggest plus but I’m loving it for work as well. I have to load the trunk quite a bit and using the foot sensor has come in handy a few times. Overall mechanics of the kit have held up really nicely and installation was fairly easy. Anything I got stuck on or wasn’t quite sure how to make work, the customer service was right there and ready to help. I guess that’s a pro to this company actually being US based haha.

One question I have is does this account for if you have an area where you open the tailgate that doesn't allow full lift? My carport is low enough that I have carpet put on the the cross beams where the lift gate touches when I open it under there. I am wondering if that would cause the auto opening feature to reverse in that event...

It appears to be covered in the installation instructions attached to this thread - you can set the upper bound of opening to whatever height suits you.

Makes sense, thanks. However, my carport is the only place I need it to be lower. I like that it goes up higher elsewhere.

I believe you can give them a call to put the order in. Here’s the number for customer service I have been using: (541) 904-0467 or you can email the gentleman I have been in contact with as well: ensightbrice@gmail.com.

They usually respond within 24 hours on weekends or within a few hours during the work week.

@ChasingSunsets what happens if there's something blocking the tail gate when it's opening-- does it stop to prevent damage? also if you happen to be stuck inside, does it sense something is blocking it and does not try to squeeze you to death?

Yes it is a pressure sensor system. And if u are stuck inside the latch also has a manual release hidden access hatch.

    Lots…
    699$!!! Huge rip off.
KTJOoffroad.com has the same exact kit for 250$.
Out of stock right now but I called yesterday and they said it should be in next month.

Glad yours is working well. Very nice addition. I'm ordering from KTJO to save 450$.

Any update on how well this is holding up? Wife wants one but I had seen at least older kits having a ton of issues.
