Ah, just so you know, no slight intended….;) I’m a newbie with welding and am still at the stage of being completely confused when something weird happens. One of the stitches in a pic was kinda fuzzy and the slag looked like what happened to me when I forgot to turn on my gas lol. I’m a bit slow, so I kept trying to fix it by reducing or increasing heat, wire speed, started looking at my connections, was about to start taking apart the gun to get the liner out… Then I realized the problem, and sheepishly opened up the bottle:facepalm: . That’s what happens with youtube university graduates haha:laugh:

Question on the coastal kit…. Does it kinda “self jig” with self aligning tabs and stuff, or are you the one that has to do all of the perfect final alignment of the pieces?

I really like the idea of weld together kits, but dont have room for all the fancy jigging tables. I only have a plywood sheet on horse work table, and a “Little Tykes-My First Welding Table” from Northern Tool (a little folding one, not even 2’x3’). Do you think an amateur can weld one of these up? I’ve got a few projects under my belt, but have learned the basics and I tend to be detail oriented. At least I think I’m past the “glue gun” stage and always watch out for getting my joints as perfect as possible and getting good penetration. Right now, Im focusing ordering my welds so I dont warp up my project at the last stage lol. Do you think someone like this can get one of these kits done?

How thick are the thickest pieces? Once I get to 1/4 inch, I’ve got to start doing multiple passes , as I’m using a little Hobart 140 (120v).

OMG... I got the dashboard back together, and everything works!

Had it pulled apart to install the ICS Fab Dash Mount, and replace the 12V socket with a nice Dual USB Fast Charger. To get the piece with the USB Media Port and 12V Port out, you have to remove the entire shiny shifter and console piece, and as long as I had to remove the Ellis knobs, I fixed the chrome shift rod that had my OCD all torqued up. A piece of 3/8 heat shrink, and a heat gun... and the ID of the Ellis shifter fits right over the tubing.

I love the ICS mount, but be CERTAIN you get the holes marked correctly... voice of experience... It took me a while to get all the wiring done, as I hate crimp connectors, and all the soldering and shrink tubing and jacketing is a lot of work... especially for a perfectionist retired engineer!

    ICS Dash Mount.jpg

    QC USB.jpg

    Blackout Shifters.jpg

Also fabbed up a full-power DRL harness using 9005 connectors from Amazon. Again lots of soldering and shrink tubing and braided sleeving... Now my Diode Dynamics XPR LEDs are nice and BRIGHT!

It’s all 3/16” and there’s no alignment tabs, you bolt 3 pieces to the frame then kinda start slapping it all together but I will say fitment on everything was really good, much better than I expected. Everything butted corner to corner leaving a nice fillet weld with very little grinding. Id say if you have plenty of time to be able to park ur 4Runner and drive something else you should be fine. We have 3 vehicles and the 4r is just the toy so I’m able to go into something deep without much worry

Well fully welded up and ground the bumper, got the swing outs all built with latches on. Just gonna figure out how to mount the maxtraxx and finish welding the swing outs all the way around and she’ll be ready for paint. Also put a 2” reciever on the swing out so I can use a small hitch rack for extra cooler or tote or whatever

Thanks for posting these pics up.

Did you have to tack this together while mounted on the frame? Are there precautions you need to take in order to protect the vehicle’s electrical system, or not really?

Do the flat plates at the bottom left and right tie into the frame?

I would imagine you could run without the tire carrier even if you weld up the bracket, for non-overlanding duty?

I like the look of this bumper, nice and slim too. Are you planning on powdercoating?

As much as I love Lime Rush, I think I love electric lime metallic even more. I don't understand why they went with 2 different limes.

Yes all tacked together while bolted to rig, all you need to do is disconnect the battery when welding on a vehicle. Each flat plate on bottom have 4 bolts each to the frame. And yes you can buy it without the carrier system, then if you chose to you can order just it later. It’s sleek and has more ground clearance than any other rear bumper available, that’s why I went with it. Plus there’s about 2k in savings going this route. I use rattle can bedliner for my armor or spray paint. Holds up good if you do ur prep right, easy to fix after I mash it or drag it on the ground. Powder coat sucks in salty weather once it’s chipped it rusts and comes off in big chunks and you can’t easily fix it

They do on the PRO it's a package on the offroad. The irony is...... if you live in an area where it snows a lot. The LED are no good. They look amazing, but generate zero heat, so if the road is sloppy. You are stopping every 30 miles to clear them. I will probably switch the Lime back 2 halo

It is odd. And the fact that tundra PRO got "solar octane" (which I love)... I guess toyota really wanted to mix it up in 2022

Years ago I had two small, grilled tractor lights tucked up under my TJ Jeep to light my front tires. Will your lights do white? where/how did you mount? Did you fab yourself or a kit?
    Thanks

Crossbars (version 4) for bike rack and solar panel. The solar panel unnoticeable is the goal.

Falcon T8 17x9 -38 with 285/70/17 Yokahama MT G003 (pic is from before I did the trimming). the negative offset of the wheels required a substantial amount of cutting. I've had the wheels for a while, but just got brave enough to do all of the cutting (and didn't really want to run MT's in the winter). I should have no problem with 34's on a less aggressive wheel now, which is what I'll be doing for next winter.

I've seen some older threads here that people did this, so here's my take.

Still recovering from the dreaded Covid but yesterday was warm enough to be outside and get the side mirror upgrade done. I had looked at the RAV4 mirror mod but did not like having to focus on a single area for blind spots. Went with these because they are polarized and shaped to see more of the blind spots. The Cylon front is kinda blingy, but there is no way someone did not see this turn signal, it's bright..and I run a dash cam too.

Wife checked it out, called me a juvenile name, laughed and said "Yeah, it's pretty cool."

    https://cartrimhome.com/Led-sequential-turn-signal-and-built-in-led-sequential-turn-mirrors

Easy install but patience is needed since it's held together with plastic tabs. I would not do this under 60deg temp. (just my opinion)

Invest in a Trim removal kit as it's plastic. No matter how careful one is, metal on plastic always leaves a mark.

    https://www.amazon.com/SunplusTrade-Molding-Upholstery-Fastener-Removal/dp/B01M3SP84D?crid=28393Z05VKHZG&keywords=trim+removal+tool+set&qid=1646004285&sprefix=trim+removal+tool+set%2Caps%2C142&sr=8-10

The sequential turn signals are a plus in my mind since it's a reminder to turn your turn signal off. lol.

Next weekend, maybe FRAC front camera install. Must find new position for camera other than typical place.

Also thanks @rageandlove, I believe I have a plan now for underneath lights like on my old TJ.
