This only works if you actually read the pump when you get gas. :D

    A true story...............................kinda;)

In California we insert our credit card, select grade, insert the nozzle, then close our eyes until the pump clicks off. When it does(click off) we never ask for a receipt nor look at the pump total(for anything). It's simply too frig'n brutal.

I'm also in Houston with a '20 and do a good mix of stop/go and highways. I always hand calculate, and your numbers are way off. The worst I've seen with almost all stop/go is 15 or 16. Highway is 19 or 20.

hahaha true! I even get a printed receipt to record it all. I enjoy seeing the data of what it cost per mile, or how much I spend per year etc.

I've used Fuelly for my past 3 vehicles. VW Jetta Diesel. Ford F150 4WD. and now the 4Runner. It even tracks which station you're getting your fuel from. On my F150, I was checking past data and noticed that a certain station always caused my MPG to drop a couple points. I stopped using that station.

I can also see the fluctuation trend of summer vs winter... in winter (at least here is Southern MD), they change fuel composition. That, combined with more 'warm up idling', I see a definite decrease in MPG. If you're a data geek, Fuelly is a fun free app to use.

An app. Free download. Just input the cost per gallon, total price, and odometer mileage each time you fill up. Keeps track of all sorts of info.

Are you running 87? Here in Texas, we get that crap winter blend so that could be a factor. I have seen my mileage drop 3mpg since winter started in DFW, but I have added some weight in mods.....

Still, 11mpg is a little excessive. As already mentioned, try filling up your tank and then see how many miles you have after your gas light comes on. I know in Houston if you are on the Katy freeway or 45 you are not driving slow lol.

Oh, and try to stick to top-tier gas. I know there are not many QuikTrip's in H-town (Heck I think Conroe got one and thats far..)
    Costco got that top-tier juice.
