I'm new to this site and ready to give my baby a makeover. I have a 1996 Sr5 Stock 4runner. It has 217k. My daily driver and my weekend warrior. We recently purchased a Tepui Tent and now we are ready to give it a facelift. Looking to do a 3" Lift, new wheels and tires.

Where do I start? What susspension should I go with? I want to a nice, reliable suspension, but nothing too fancy or complicated.

Tires? Thinking 33s. Been looking at KO2's, Toyo Open Country r/t or A/t 2, Coopers or Wrangler MT/R?
-Remember, this is my weekend warrior and my daily. I want something beefy, looks tough, but will also last and not a lot of raod noise. I can deal with a little noise for the right look.

Wheels? Seems this doesn't matter as much. Been looking as some Pro Comp Wheels. 16 or 17"? Recommendations on brands?

I would love any and all input!

Get new wheels & tires from discount tire. Go with Bilsteins and Eibach springs all around and youll have yourself a 3'' lift and you can fit some 265/75 under it. You can get kits from Toyotec or Wheelers Off Road.

Decent price and awesome upgrade for your DD/WW.

16" and 17" wheels are both good options because tire prices are pretty good for those size wheels, ive heard awesome things about toyo at2 and the bfgs so you cant really go wrong there, youll get exactly what you want out of those. I also agree with bilstein shocks, lifetime warranty on 5100's and the ride is improved over stock greatly

Hey man, I am new too. Talking about the rims: black pro comp steelies with deep dish is my favorite off-road wheel style, so it's always a good idea to get them. If you like the original off-road style and pro comps you may also like Fuel off-road wheels https://www.carid.com/fuel-wheels/ , as they have a relatively similar style. There are versions with beedlocks in case you want some serious stuff)

    Here's my favorite:
