I made custom drawers with removable covers that allow the drawers to be used as supporting surfaces for tailgating, camping what not. The covers are made from 1/4” HDPE. Each drawer has two covers that each cover half the drawer. My drawer slides lock in place at both half and full extension so I only have to remove one cover at half extension.

Soooo..... how much would you charge to make that drawer setup? Cause i suck using sharp tools and want to keep my fingers. And the other drawers out there require sacrificing an un-born child or a few Algerian immigrants.

I also wonder if there will be a trend making drawers with lighter materials? The wood based drawers seems to be heavy.

They need to, but I’m sure that would make them even more expensive. If manufacturers do start, competition would help with prices. I used 1/2” plywood instead of typical 3/4” to help a little bit. They are still plenty strong enough for my needs. I also kept height smaller than typical drawers to further help with weight and still give me cargo space when needed.

You kind of ghosted us on the question, I get it it's a pain to do all that work. I guess the question is do you have an interest in making those drawers at any cost?

And... is there a # on wehat it would cost for you to sell what you got now lol.

Thanks for confidence but my wood skills aren’t all that great. Sorry I just don’t have the time to build these. Mine took quite a bit of time as I could only work on them a little bit at a time. I even started them before I got my truck and still didn’t finish them before it arrived. Lol. I am happy to answer any questions though.

Nice. Did you get the HDPE from your local bodyboard company?

Nice. Didn't realize they sold HDPE sheets. I should have assumed since their print catalog weighs about 50lbs. Lol

Same stuff they make bodyboards and surf-rescue sleds out of.

Could you list out some parts links? The HDPE, the rails, any other important non wood related parts?

The cover boards are a clever idea - may do that myself..

    Here’s what I did

if you look closely you can see that I used aluminum angle to make a cutting board/table that slides independently of the drawer but is supported by the drawer if necessary

Our 4runner offering is on the lower end of our pricing structure, perhaps you are looking at a non-drawer option on the other vehicles?

We use a different (more simple) mounting solution on the 4runner, which keeps the cost less than the Landcruiser/GX systems.

No plans, I just started with the floor area, sized the low side to fit my cooler, and made the drawer to fill the remaining space.
I did wait for my drawer glides before making the actual drawer to make sure it was sized correctly for the opening

My apologies, I saw the drawer systems for the other vehicles at the bottom of the 4runner page and the prices looked a lot cheaper. Didn't realize those prices were not including the drawer systems!

Nice kit. What material are using for the platform and what are you coating the drawers/base with? Weight is an issue for me. Weight it will support, not weight of the unit. I'm 300lbs, one dog who travels with me is 190, then add fridge, gear, etc...

Thanks for the kind words! Our system is built from a high-grade, 9-ply Baltic Birch. This is *very* high quality plywood, with strength, quality, etc. far in excess of anything you'd find at a big box store. We use what's known as 'prefinished' birch, which has a polyurethane coating applied in an industrial process from our supplier. The birch then rests on aluminum extrusion framework, providing a solid foundation.

For the platform itself, we've torture tested out own personal systems with 1000 pounds (we certainly wouldn't recommend anyone else try that!) and had no issue. Given the weights you've described, our system is capable of supporting that. The sleeper deploys with a set of 500pound rated slides, which we further reinforce with a 3D printed fiberglass reinforced hook that engages on the flipped-forward 2nd row seatbacks.

In addition to our convertible sleeper (stows when not in use, slides forward for sleeping. As far as we know we offer the only convertible, integrated sleeper/drawer system available for purchase) we also offer a 2nd-row delete kit that creates a simple frame work under the sleeper.

I've linked one of our youtube videos that provides a closer look at how our 4runner sleeper works that might be helpful. We are always happy to provide more detail!
