I think this is a great thread. I wish everyone would boycott the dealers charging more than MSRP.

Inflation is out of control enough and there is no need for price gouging. Hopefully the dealers being at least fair will earn repeat business.

There is nothing wrong with anyone making an honest buck but these gougers are ridiculous.

I am not sure how some people sleep at night. Myself I a man of faith and want to get to heaven and so I could not stoop that low to take advantage of someone like some of the smucks. Thankfully we still have some honest and upfront people in this world.

Got one for the naughty list-Berlin Toyota in Portland Maine.
This is what I got as an email response when I started asking about the markup on the Pro they have-"Due to Toyotas world wide production being down 40% the powers that be had to offset the loss in volume somehow. Any TRD Pro (Tacomas, Tundras, 4Runners) is a 5K mark up. Every other model is a 2k mark up from MSRP."

So I told them I am not interested and am in the process of securing a MSRP deal at a different dealership. I actually like the sales person I was dealing with, so it really is a shame I won't be able to purchase from them.

was this the place that had the black Pro you mentioned in a previous post?

Picked up an ORP from Markquart Toyota in Chippewa Falls, WI yesterday. They are only marking up Pro’s. They did also say they are only selling to buyers picking up their vehicle, no shipping allowed. My experience was fantastic.

Well I’m glad to say, I finally got one. 2022 ORP in super white. A deal fell through on a car near me, and a salesman gave me a call and told me to run lol. I showed up and didn’t even have to haggle to get MSRP. Not even a dealer fee. Just tax and registration, no additional fees. Cobb County Toyota is the best. Greg was my salesman, and I recommend him to anyone in the market for one. Although the financing department was rude and useless, everyone else was super friendly.

I’m on the list for Longo Toyota. Talked to Crown/John Elway Toyota too, they said they’re MSRP.

I don’t want to wait much longer… originally didn’t want KDSS and now I don’t mind.

Depending on what color and model, you’re in for quite a wait. I’m going on month three waiting on a Lunar Rock Off-Road Premium. I think they’ve filled five and I’m still not even at the halfway point on the waitlist.

    Thanks for the reply —

have you looked elsewhere (out of state)? What exact spec are you looking at? I’m at the point where I’d consider other colors, although lunar rock looks great.

I’m looking for non-KDSS, moonroof, & premium plus. I have another deposit at another MSRP dealership in NorCal. I had a third at another dealership but decided it was a waste having that deposit.

I’ve looked out of state but haven’t went forward with a deposit. Seems like all the markup dealerships are getting the exact model/color I want. The excitement has died down and I feel like when the time comes I might cancel. IDK! We’ll see

haha same spec as you! I actually don’t mind about KDSS anymore… also I’m kinda getting to be okay with other colors too, unfortunately. I really want Lunar but don’t want to wait months.

I don’t mind waiting anymore. I lost $$$ because I stupidly sold a 2021 in perfect condition. It was just not the Lunar Rock that I wanted. I don’t want to make anymore rash decisions and the wait is helping in a way.

If you're in New England, I can personally recommend McGee Toyota in Claremont NH. Just got a ORP @ MSRP and they did well on my trade!
White River Toyota is also offering MSRP.

Peppers Toyota in Paris Tennessee were great - MSRP. Flew into Nashville, picked up and drove home to Colorado. Locals were adding $15K "Market Adjustment", since we were ready for road trip, this was great.
Name of the game is patience - some dealers apparently post on the Facebook groups (my son-in-law saw a post and called in my behalf to get my name at top of list) deposit same day (late Oct), picked up mid December).

Update to my order with Fitzgerald Toyota in Maryland I placed a deposit for a Lime Rush Pro in Sept last year at 995 over msrp, which I was fine with since I live local. Got a call last week from my salesperson saying I had an allocation that will be delivered in March he provided Vin and build sheet. Unfortunately, thats where the good news ends he called again today informing me that the vehicle is not for me but is going to the owner of the dealership. He claims the sale manager and him complain to the general manager but to no avail. Well hot damn, thanks for treating me like a value customer! Thats the Fitz Way!

Wow. Bad business for sure. Did you get anything in writing? If you’d like me to put to I can post them on the front page in big bold letters to warn people to stay away. Shady dealer!

I’d complain to Toyota, you local news and all internet places possible. Companies don’t care about people, just themselves and their dollars, I know a Rooftop Tent company that’s scum like this.

I would also call your local Better Business Bureau and file an official complaint. You have absolutely nothing to lose other than 10-15 min of time.

A negative complaint filed looks awful for an establishment like this not only for dealer but also for Toyota.

In addition if the dealer owners name is listed I would call and email him/her tell them what an awful thing this is to take an order away from you and especially if you left a deposit. I would tell them you plan on notifying the BBB and Toyota. I would not take that BS in the least.

I would try to contact one or all of these folks listed in the D&B for that auto mall. It looks like the founder the original Fitzgerald is deceased. Here is some info.
