I’m wondering how good these electric vehicles heat. Seems it takes a lot of energy to run heat and must put a considerable drain on the battery charge?

I think social media affects adults worse than kids, in many cases. People grew up knowing that the news is reliable and true. Then the algorithms keep showing them what they want to believe and they assume all of it is true.

I mean, if you ask anyone, they intellectually know there's a lot of unreliable news on the internet, but then they read what they want to hear and that just goes out the window. And when what they want to hear is misinformation and hatred, we have a real problem on our hands.

The kids are growing up with it, knowing that most of what they read on the internet is bullshit.

We just purchased a 2022 Polestar 2 for my wife. Our first electric. It is crazy how quick it is and how much fun it is to drive. She rarely ever drives more than 100 miles a week and we charge at home so so far charging has not been an issue. I wouldn't give my 4R up for an electric but it is fun to have one in the family to take out every now and then.

One can only hope they know most of it is BS. Seems like today we have those that get swallowed up by social media (in my era it was TV) or they live a rather shallow life relying only on what mommy & daddy taught them (child/parent/follower) instead of getting into "adult" mode thinking beyond just what they grew up with. Okay, I'm stepping off the pulpit before someone knocks me off... :llama:

So a while back I said I would never ever get a hybrid or EV or die trying not to have one!
Funny story, sold the runner due to selling for a huge profit.
I ended up in a hybrid 150. Six months in I’ll never go back to full ice. Average is 23 mpg but in ideal conditions like a side roads under 50 I’ve netted 30mpg.
Also like the backup gen for the house and of course haven’t lost power since!
Anyway to the diehard ice guys. I was one, chit changes & glad I tried now

I think that will be the case for a lot of people. Especially typical truck guys. But ultimately I think the market will shift due to the market, not due to government mandates.

The new Hyundai Ioniq and Kia EV look nice... and affordable than Teslas. I can also see the benefits of going electric, but I just love the 4R too much.

Sure, I just saw a Kia engulfed in flames a few months ago.

As others have said, migrating to EV as a result of free market choices is a good thing. Getting there by way of mandates and government pressures is a bad thing.

It will be fun to see what Toyota comes up with in the next few years.

If only Al Gore had invented something else besides the Internet. Clearly YouTube is what turns people into psychopaths. :p

There are a lot of good points here. Doug Demuro pointed out while testing the Roadster that the quality problems are shockingly bad, even for a vehicle that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. Also the fact you need to go through the touchscreen for everything just seems mindlessly pedantic and would get old very quickly. I've also heard a lot of complaints about the door handles, I think the TFL guys in particular had a problem with one of their Teslas.

I am on the waitlist for the Cybertruck, I am far enough down the waitlist where I will be able to make an informed decision by the time they tell me I need to make up my mind. I do like the idea of the Cybertruck, but feel like Toyota has found Tesla's soft underbelly with the Prime technology. That really seems like the best of both worlds at least until better battery technology is developed.
