Great looking rig no doubt with nice off-road features, I just can’t get past the ford reliability. Hope to see that these prove to do well in the maintenance department.

Ford and Jeep are both making ridiculous off-road vehicles with powerful engines.

Toyota keeps telling us there’s no market for such vehicles and claims people lost interest in the FJ cruiser after Toyota refused to update it.

The dealer mark ups on those will be nuts I assume

Looks like they made the ugly fender flares even bigger and uglier! :puke:

People probably lost interest in the FJ because it was a half assed attempt at a tribute to a legendary vehicle. If they would put some effort into it, it might sell.

The fender flares are presumably required by law, but they seem to be an afterthought. I assume most will either remove or replace them.

And if Toyota put even a remote amount of effort into the FJ cruiser it would have been much more successful. Right now people are buying used ones for $25-$45,000.

I just don't get why Ford didn't make the body wider. The real Bronco didn't have shitty looking fender flares.

I don't dislike the concept of the FJC. I just think it requires more than slapping together a bunch of leftover 4Runner parts to do justice to the FJ40.

I had two, all I can say it was like sitting inside a football helmet.

Visibility was crap, and ultimately when I bought my fifth generation I didn’t miss either of my FJs.

My daughter loved hers and was very disappointed when it was smashed by an Oakland city vehicle.

I think with a little bit of engineering they probably would’ve had a winner on their hands.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say about $80k MSRP plus an average of $20k dealer mark up. About $100k total probably

The 392 wrangler is about $80,000, so that’s about right.

definitely ugly. but at least they aren't surrounded by rivets. man, I can't stand that look (just my subjective opinion on fender flares).

While some people may like it, and I do like the Bronco, this is hideous. Raptor version or not, the flares look stupid. I'm sure it's an off road beast, but gawd!

I'm sure it will sell like hotcakes, hopefully Toyota sees how hot the market is for highly-capable off-roading vehicles and steps up to the plate with the next gen 4R.

We can talk crap all we want, but we all wish a stock 4Runner trim came with 37s…

This will piss some off, but I’d rather those flares than the lime green :D. ones easier to change out.

Reliability is cool and all, but there’s a huge market of people who don’t keep a vehicle for a lifetime.

Not for $80K, though. For that much, I could be SAS'd on 40's and supercharged. :)

I like the way you think. I would opt for SAS and the new Tundra motor avec 8 speed. I want that motor & tranny! As for the Bronco: Fix Or Repair Daily. Period. Ford earned that moniker rightfully. You only have to look as far as their stupid 9 piece water pump with 6 gaskets and 48 bolts holding the piece of crap together. You KNOW it is gonna leak! Lmao Never again.

The flares look ridiculous and I am a Ford guy at heart. I love the 400HP but seriously where ya going use 400hp at Moab? The old Willys 4 cyl jeep went just about everywhere with 50hp...

I think all you have to do is look at the way Toyota has treated the Land Cruiser in this country to see that they zero interest in catering to the Bronco/Jeep crowd. Toyota has had a few bright spots in its history, but mostly it builds conservative grocery getters at all price points (the Lexus is fast, comfortable Corolla). Passion is not in the Toyota design language.

And I know, I'm gonna hear about the Supra. Bleah. The Supra has a history of bland, a brief spark of brilliance, disappears and then reappears back in bland. Same with the MR2 - bland, cool, gone.

The Land Cruiser in this country, IMHO, ended with the FJ80. Yeah, yeah, I know, the later FJs are good too. Whatever. :p

The 4Runner started as a bandwagon vehicle after the Japanese car companies successfully lobbied against the extra tax on 4 door SUVs (a protectionist tarrif nobody remembers). It has vacillated between being a tall station wagon, and sometimes an off-road capable vehicle. The fact that it is at all functional off pavement is a miracle since Toyota seems to be completely disinterested in that market.

I'm with @Thatbassguy. I can't believe they made the already hideous plastic fender flares even bigger.

One of the reasons the raptor looks so good is because they properly flared the metal fenders.

This is just lazy and cheap.
