I hope to have my 2016 Trail Premium soon. Unfortunately the 2017 TRD Pros are not expected to start arriving until late Feb or March! I'm currently researching and compiling modifications (suspension, rear bumper, roof rack, hide away winch and mount, sliders, wheels & Tires). This will be my daily driver 90% of the time. The other 10% I plan to get off road on some weekend overland trips to the Big Bend area with some longer trips to Colorado. I live in Las Colinas, any suggestions on gear would be appreciated!

    Welcome!

Murph's build here actually has a good list of some items you might want for your trips.

If you'll be in deer/elk/moose/etc. country stick on one or two pairs of deer whistles. They have saved us several times from digging a critter out of the grille on our various 4x4s. - Ted

Water. Lots of water. A couple of MREs. 550 cord. Recovery strap (a good snatch strap and pull strap, not cheap garbage from harbor freight). High lift jack with base and wheel buddy. Pack a bag with first aid and survival gear just in case you have to go on foot. CB radio (ham radio if you have a ham license). Chem lights. Flash light. Duct tape. Common tool bag ( metric).

I think you are asking about gear OTHER than the sliders, bumpers, etc., which you have already or are already researching? Yes?

My recovery gear and tools are:

Rubbermaid 8 gal Action Packer. Two 'hook' velcro strips on the bottom hold it in place on the carpet - keeps it from sliding around, but still removable. Lid has a fire extinguisher zip tied to it; to use the extinguisher you simply unclip the lid and hold the entire assembly - keeps the fire extinguisher readily accessible and keeps it from sliding around. First aid pack held by friction in the recess to the right of the Action Packer.

Action Packer contains: tool kit, toilet paper, duct tape, electrical tape, heavy duty zip ties, folding saw, 20' ARB tree saver strap, 30' ARB recovery strap, 3 Smittybilt D ring shackles, Smittybilt snatch block, jumper cables, 'X' style lug wrench, winch line cover, and folding shovel. Not shown (under passenger seat) are 2 4x4x4" wood blocks (jack supports) and a 30' tow strap.

Like the other poster said - I also have a mobile CB and mobile HAM and on trips I carry a portable HAM as well, for truck to spotter comms.

Water and food. I also always have a blanket and two old (chewed on by the dog) coats, and gloves and a hat, in the truck.

In addition to the excellent kit from MeefZah also recommend the Hi-Lift jack of your choice, with the big orange plastic foot for soft ground and the Hi-Lift Jack HA 500 Handle All tool....gives you a good multi tool with a shovel, pick, axe, and hammer in a single kit.
