    If these two holes are threaded for the mounting of the shelf, it would seem in a fixed location:

    But since the slots below those line up with the top holes, it seems that you could lower the shelf and mount it with nuts and bolts lower...?

    The tray alone can hold up to 150+ lbs and the side around 50-60lbs.

    wow....so the shelf can support around 200-250 lbs if nothing is attached to the side molle panels?

    The reason why I'm asking is I built a homemade shelf in the back that I recently had my welder and 2 generators/inverters on top of for 2 weeks while exploring Baja.

    The welder comes in around 30 lbs and the generators 50lbs each, so 130 lbs total. Would you trust having all 3 of these things on top of the shelf while off-roading?

    We cannot unfortunately give you an exact number because we have never fully tested its limits. I would say the max would be anywhere from 150-200lbs. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    I would make a very large allowance for the dynamic loads that amount of weight would put on the shelf/panels (the mounting points really, the panels will be fine). Personally I would not put anywhere near that amount of weight on if the vehicle is going off road, and probably not on road either. These are not mounting onto large threads (or very deep) and have their limits apart from the panels themselves. These are very tough panels, and I cannot see them failing before the mounting points on the vehicle do.

    This isnt even accounting for occupant safety in a crash. Imagine a those things flying forward at head height.

    Understand though, this is not anything against these panels at all. I just installed my caliraised panels and really like them (no shelf though). They do seem pretty strong, rattle free, fit is perfect. Super nice looking panels. I need to spend some time planning how and what Im going to mount up, but I am planning to keep it relatively light to protect the mounting points from metal fatigue over the long term, because I dont think Ill be taking these things back out.

    I have the Cali ditch mounts, very well designed to give light a low profile. I would recommend these over any other design.

    I have a question about the Molle panels and airbags after seeing a 4runner airbag deployment on another thread. Is there reason for concern if I install these?

    I agree, sort of why I was asking if they had tested the weight rating. I feel like the rating is BS if not tested. I get the reason for having a dynamic and static load rating for a roof rack because there are times (RTT) where you could have a higher static weight up top, but rarely would I need a higher static rating than a dynamic one for interior storage. I doubt anyone over 100 lbs would ever think about sleeping on top of the molle panels. I was actually hoping they had tested them because for my use they would be perfect if they could support the weight they state, while moving.

    Not to speak out of turn or put words into Caliraised’s mouth, but I did not take the statement as a weight rating. The pic of with the woman on it is impressive, but I took it with a grain of salt. Testing these to failure would only be testing the mounts to failure. There is nothing to break on these panels. Testing would just destroy the back end of a 4runner (permanent damage to mounts, popped spot welds, etc). You could test the shelf by itself, but that wouldn't give you much useful info.

    Honestly, how you are carrying your equipment in your picture is exactly how I would do it. The floor for heavy stuff, the molle panels and shelf to get lighter stuff organized and out of the way…

    I don't understand what you're trying to say.

    I wanted to know how much "dynamic" weight this thing can support. I don't care what the static weight it can support. It seems CALI raised has not tested to determine the dynamic weight it can support. My point earlier is static weight limits doesn't really matter for this application. The advertised weight limit should be dynamic weight, not static. I can't think of an instance where I would want that much weight on the shelf only while parked. RTT/roof rack, yes, I get why static matters. For this, only dynamic rating should matter.
